Rear deck/back panels removed... what are the do's and dont's back there?

The subject is a little vauge but hopefully my message will convey what I'm asking much better.

I removed the rear deck and all the necessary panels yesterday and I'm leaving them off for a couple days while I dynamat certain places during my freetime. I'll make a little list of concerns from here on:

1) White moisture sheild on side panels - do I need these? can I just spread dynamat on the inner car metal its sheilding instead?

2) Deadening rear deck - With all the holes and clips and bells and whistles involved on that thing it is a straight biznatch to spread mat over.. what can I do short of putting a protected mat on top of it and seeing where I need to cut holes before I sread it?

3) The black garbage bags/air tight bag containing (insulation?)/and styraphone blocks in both sides of the side panels - Ok.. what purpose do they serve? Ill leave them alone if I have to but if they can go I'll toss them happily.

4) Flap vents in trunk - They rattle all over the place even when I barely have the volume up, fortunitally I don't hear it inside but its a little annoying outside around my car.. what are they and can I do something to shut them up.

5) Plastic cover over the front seat mechanisms - can I toss those too? thin plastic like that could be nothing but trouble.

6) Any reccomendations on where else to spread mat - Im willing to deaden anywhere, I got enough mat but I dont want to put it somewhere that dont need it.

Whew.. ok, I know I left out a couple things, but if you have opinions or answers and such pleaseeee offer them up.. Thanks guys.

1. I pulled it off, filled that entire area with expanding foam and put a layer of mat over the top, poked holes for the panel to clip back on.

2. it is a bitch. roll the mat on in sections and poke holes from the bottom.. this is the easiest way.

3. see step one for what i did with those

4. I still have duct tape over it from when i was spraying in sound deading. Use anything from tape to dynomat to fiberglass to seal this up

5. be sure to put it on the wheel wells behind that white vapor barrier. Lost of road noise in that wheel well. I have mat everywhere so im not sure if there are any places i didnt need it.

yup, best way to ensur eyou put it where you need it is to play music loud back there and listen for noise. and when you are ready to put yrou car back together put the pieces in one at a time and do the same thing, to ensure you get no rattles as you assemble yoru car.

if you go step by step, you ensure a rattle free car!

OK, to answer the question about hte plastic bags and styrofoam....

Black plastic bag is full of polyfill, it and helps with road noise. Leave these in place.

The white styrofoam is impact protection, and it is against DOT regulations to remove them. You are subject to a $100,000 fine if you get into an accident and they are found to not be in the vehicle. I would reccomend you not remove these either.

BTW, not pulling that stuff out of my ass, I called the Honda dealer, because I wanted to just take the styrofoam out too.....not a good idea.

i might try removing the taillights, lining them with weatherstripping, then cranking them back on. that shoudl help the rattle, jsut liek yoru liscence plates.

flap is on the left side of teh trunk (as you are standing outside the trunk looking into it) near teh skin of the car.... if you take out the sidepanel of carpeting back there, its pretty hard to miss.

thanks so much! I guess I was just too lazy to go hunting for it. I will try the weather striping.
