Alpine CDA-7893.....

This is kind of for the people that have installed a HU and used a harness to connect their unit. The one that I am getting appears to have all the wires, about 3 inches long coming out of the plug. Now, on the alpine units, I am pretty sure that I will have to extend the yellow wire (power) coming out of the back of the HU all the way to the battery, which I can do, and probably the same for the ground. Now what about the yellow and black wires from the harness itself? Do I just cap those off with something? I mean, I won't need them since I will just extend the yellow and black wires from the back of the new HU. Also, what should the guage of the yellow wire be? I would hook the ground off the hu to the ground on the adapter and not mess w/running it seperate.

The power wire should be 12 guage or bigger. I used 12 because when I bought my install kit he gave me about 8 ft of 12 guage wire for free.

Also, you can just run it to the main fuse box in the engine compartment instead of the batt. If you pop the top off of that fuse box, you will see 2 10mm bolts at the bottom. Both are power. Simply connect to one of those. That's how I did mine. I have since turned the internal amp off though so I don't need it.

Tip: Place the power wire's inline fuse somewhere you can get to it w/o having to yank the deck out.

Oh, and it doesn't have to be "yellow" wire. It can be pink if ya want.

so the black and yellow wires coming out from the harness, I just leave those alone, and work with the ones coming out from the back of the HU?

I would hook the black wire (ground) coming off the Alpine's harness to the black wire coming out the harness you plugged into the stock honda one. That ground is perfectly sufficient.

The power wire coming off the harness you bought to connect to the honda harness should just be taped off. Put some tape around the end of it or something just to make sure the bare wire never touches anything else. Then, simply tape it to one of the other wires in the harness.

Run the alpines power wire (yellow wire w/ the inline fuse) straight to the battery or main fuse block like I mentioned above.

If you have more questions or I am not clear just keep posting and will get ya setup.

I just installed my 7894 about a month ago.

Alright MBow, I am almost positive I know what to do now, connect everything from the new HU to the harness excpet the yellow power, sounds simple enough. Thanks for all your help, I will get back to you on the status of my installation which should be sometime next week, when ever I get my unit from the seller off ebay.

the antenna connector fit directly on to my CDA-7894, so it will fit on your 7893 too.
