even less dimming, and can heven keep he battery charged long enough for the alternator to shutoff occasionally. never dropped below 12 volts. ever.
im not saying this will be your car. im just saying that YES its possible to support even multi-kilowatt stereos on stock electricals, at the very least for in town driving.
highway? dunno. and i guess technically, i havent hit 2 killowatts yet.....
when i get my job back. got my eyes on an eclipse 34230, 370x2. thatll push me over the mark. and if it doesnt, the 500 watt amp ill get for midbass drivers should do the trick nicely
a little off subject white rabbit, but i was thinking about getting an Eclipse 34230 to power my subs. i already have an eclipse amp powering my front and rear fill, it's the premium series 44240 not sure though cause i have been drinking sorry (the 80X4 ish eclipse), so i want to go all eclipse with the amps matching my HU 5303R............anyways....i have a kicker zr240 now powering my subs which are fosgate 12 inch he2 DVC running at 4 ohms of course.....so anyways, do you think this will make my subs hit a lot harder/louder etc....i want to be able to feeeeeel the bass when it hits, i kinda think i have been sorta underpowering my 12's all my life, just wondering if anybody thinks this will be a big difference. Before i was powering the kicker zr240 i was using a fosgate punch 55.2 old school RATED at 27.5 watts by two channels and the zr 240 didn't make a heck of a lot of difference....it has always hit sorta loud but nothing spectacular, possibly because my other speakers are so damn loud mb quarts in front and quarts in rear for fill.......so back to the subject......would that eclipse amp pound the crap out of my subs........is it worth it to get it????
yes the fosgate subs could be a problem too i suppose. but they were given to me from a friend for $100 so it's not tooooo bad of a deal. of course if i was going to get new subs i was looking at mb quart pwd 304's their premium line so that my subs will match my quart q's in the front and qsd 6.5 mid drivers in the rear, those subs any loud?

Sounds good...you'll never know untill you go for a long drive though.. Maybe you have a wonderful factory freak alternator .. Measuring momentary voltage is one thing. But prolonged current draw can slowly keep reducing your voltage. If ever you get the chance.. wear ear muffs and drive for an hour with the system cranked....So far so good though
but the question mo, is that thats not practical... why in the hell would he ever drive for an hour with the system on so loud that he would need earmuffs... also, its asking to burn your shit out...

drove to chico from calpoly for the weekend. spent about $30 on gas (and everyone in here knows how far that will get me) i unfortunately couldnt get a real good idea of long term current draw effects, cause my earthquake overheats in no time. ive always known about it, but ive never had heat problems exept running sub duty >.<
thought it wouldnt happen, it did. big time.
other than that, ZERO problems playing music for 7 hours straight (minus cool off time for the EQ) but who knows, that might have been enough of an effect to make the outcome of no long drive problems moot. *shrug*
Pretty wicked then.. so this means with my 160amp alternator I can do a custom install..ditch the 40 split rear seat and mount a mini fridge in my car...
that was the sweetest car at the show, too, caddilac convertible, drives around on 3 wheels in a circle, then parks, shoots 4 foot flames out the back while the crowd gathers larger and larger around it (someone lights a ciggarette eventually from it ) then he shuts teh car off, pops the trunk, pulls a beer out teh fridge in his trunk and chills back in his caddy, drinkin a beer.
