I want to put a neon in my trunk and have it go on when the trunk is opened... much like how it is already with the regular light....

i don't know about the amp draw, buy you might be able to just cut into the current light's wires, but, a better way woudl be to get a relay to connect to the current light to turn the neon on and off. I'd run a small power cable from the battery, or if you have a system, get a dist. block and use the amp's power wire.

Neons have little power consumption. Not even worth stressing over. Just splice it in with the trunk light. Personally I'd get a switch an get a little funky. One way the regular light is the one that comes on, the other just the neon comes on. I think that'd work better so the regular light won't drown out the effect of the neon in any way.

i tapped my trunk neon right to the trunk light thats already there. but when i placed it close to the lgith it wouldnt work, so when i moved it back further it worked. i dunno if thats weird or whatever but it worked right when i moved it back further on the wire.

i will be running this in my trunk as well. i tapped into the dome light, and ran the two wires instead of to that bulb to the coil of a relay. then i will use that relay to switch on neons

I have my deck running my 2 amps and a relay.

The relay powers a bus strip. Then I power all the neons off the bus strip.

Less than $10 at Radio Shack.

2 (one for pos and one for neg) Dual-Row Barrier Strips-8 Position
1 (cut in half for each strip) 8-Position Jumper
