Under $200

I want to get a cd player for my car....Nothing too expensive, preferrably under $200. Must have high Power at least 22X4, RCA pre outs, flip face or detach face or something like that, and skip free.....Any one know any models or places I should look? I already have a 6 disc Kenwood Cd Changer to install in the car, so I figured I would get a cd player for the car, and not a cassette player. I will also need speakers. I dont want to spend over $500 for the radio and the speakers all around, but I want it to sound decent.
Thanks...

B;aupunlt HU's use the same internal amps and CD Roms as Sony Xplod HU's so scratch those..

Panasonic makes some nice HU's.

Bacically just avoid SOny, BLaupunkt, JVC, and Aiwa like the plague..

Alpine, Kenwood, Clarion, and Pioneer all have HU's in your price range..

Out of the models you listed below....to buy, Would you say that Kenwood is the best brand out of them?? I heard that Alpine and Clarions quality has gone down....and I heard the same about Pioneer. I found two kenwood models on ebay that sound good to me. I am interested in getting a radio that has the D mask that Kenwood offers. I found KDC 5019 and KDC 519. What do you think about those two radios?? How does Panasonic hold up?? Sorry about all the questions, but I dont want to get stuck with a crappy radio....
thanks

Clarions quality has gone up..alot over the last 3 years dude.. Alpine's has stayed the same..and other companies have improved.

Kenwood would be the lowest quality solution for entry level models.

Thanks for all your help. Who would you recommend for speakers? As brands go....Boston? Polk? Cerwin Vega? Our civics take 6.5 in the doors and 6.5 in the rear right?

Polks are good, Infinity, Quite a few others..if your looking for speakers on a budget and don't plan to add an amp. Use Cerwin Vega HED's. They offer good midbass..they'll fit very easily....and sound pretty decent..and work well on low power..

id get a kenwood, simply because you have the changer already. if it is an fm modulated changer, then screw it, and get something else. kenwood make good decks, its just the preouts that are in question.

pioneers are great, only problem with them is that nowadays they are complicated as heck. menu's upon sub mentu's upon sub menus. too many options!

alpine are more expensive than pioneer.......

sony will skip.

my vote is pioneer, but you have to prepare to educate yourself a little, you can get a 4400 for $150 on ebay, i believe.

speakers: infinity makes good speakers to run on deck power, but the tweet is a bit bright. rockford fosgate now has really nice components, id look into that, actually, they will have a line that works well on deck power.

If you know someone who works at best buy, they can hook you up, fanatic P for $89, plus you get the psp for like $4.

thats a deck and speakers for $300........

go with a clarion headunit and vega speakers, i guarantee you'll be happy....
clarions low-mid decks are the best value currently out there in my opinion!

Everything I hear about Clarion is bad. Two people I work with have Clarion Decks and they both have problems with them. I think I am leaning towards Kenwood. I am thinking about the KDC-5019 or the KDC-519. I like the D-Mask Feature. My friend has that in his GTP. I had a Kenwood in my last car and I loved it. As for speakers, What size do you guys put in your doors and rear deck? Its 61/2 in the doors and 61/2 in the deck right?

Mohawkboom, are the Aiwas really that bad? I have an Aiwa 517M from my old vehicle that I was thinking of installing in my Civic. I have had the Scosche kit for about 3 weeks, but I haven't had the time to do the installation. The Aiwa performed very well in my old Sentra (for about 4 months), but it is kind of gaudy-looking.

I did not want to spend a bunch of money on stereo equipment right now (which is why I was going to re-use the Aiwa), but I don't want to go thru the trouble of an installation, only to have to redo it later. I was kind of leaning toward the Kenwood KDC-2019.
