i have installed coaxials before, but never components. i'm considering components for the front and i am wondering if are they difficult to intall? in most cases, coaxials are just plug and play, but with components you have the crossover and more wires to deal with. please let me know what i'm in for or should i just take it to a shop. btw, power will come from the head unit for now, and i already have the honda tweeter pod so that's taken care of. thanks.
power goes from teh deck to teh in on the crossover. then there will be two outs, low and hi. low goes to teh mid which you installed in yoru door, the hi goes to teh tweet in the pods you said you already took care of.

I have been installing car stereos for a living for about 2 years. When I did my components I used rockford spks. Cause it was what i could get the best discount on. I had to dremel out the stock tweeter pod and I mounted the crossover on the door itself under the door pannel. i ran all new wire to the back to connect to the amp. In my opinion I would not hook components up to the stock deck. The stock components are ok becuase they are meant to be efficient with the power that the deck puts out. I would wait until you get an amp for the highs. I wouldn't take the chance of blowing the components due to distortion because the stock deck doesn't have enough power. Just my .02
viper, no disrespect, but im personally curios. do you work at best buy, installed fanatic P, and work as either a sales person in the caraudio section or are a junior installer there? i have a hunch.....
cool, so i guess this is my next diy after installing my head unit this week. yeah, i would love to hook everything up to an amp, but after purchasing the head unit i'm a little low on funds. fortunately the kenwood head unit that i bought pumps out a decent 22 rms, which i guess is good for the components for now.
unledded, my gut tells me that he installed fanatic P speakers, which have a high power requirement, they would barely get a love tap from 22 watts, ao higher outputs would mean he would have to turn teh deck up to distortion levels. (this is just a hunch, of course)
I dont know what your comps are, but if they have a pretty low power requirement, you should be all set. no worries about an amp.
you should be ok just running off the deck unless your running something that requires alot of power. had a buddy who had type x components and just ran them off the deck and they sounded horrible. But the minute he got enough power to them they cleaned up and absolutley ripped
I agree, but to go further on what rabbit said. Back in the day I installed a set of Fanatic X's in the civic and ran them off the deck. They sounded phenominal for being off of deck power, and that was with a measley premier 740. Amping makes them sound better, but it won't kill the speakers not to amp them.
