OZ power matrix - great
orion hcca - great
rainbow pro's- great
focal utopia - great
mb quart qsd - great
many, including me, say these components are second only to references. the tweet is so smooth, and teh crossover is insanely tunable. teh speakers are well designed to not only perform, but have aethetic value as well. well worth the $380 prce tag online.

still jus 2 ohm CDT Classics dude
I don't think an amp and any HU produces a sonically pure enough signal to tell the difference between raibow References and any other very transaparent smooth component set..
Overrated indeed..overpriced..big time..
Rainbow Pro's are underrated though..they don't have recognition yet cause all anything thinks of when they hear Rainbow are the references..

I think you meant to say A/D/S 346is. and that component set is also fantastic. i fyou ever get a chance to demo them, i highly reccommend it.
as far as the rainbow references, ive only talked to one person who did not like them, and the reason for that is that they sounded so good to him, he blew a fuse. He sais they sounded so accurate, that it felt too mechanical.
lotus now makes a reference copy, just a different crossover, for $800 (or something like that) same fantastic reference sound, 1/10 the price tag.

HCCA is kinda funny that way, the subs sound like a s s but have incredible SPL. definitely not an SQ woofer. the component set is a fantastic SQ set, noone who has bought that set ever wants to get something else, ever (the ppl i know, anyways)
its kinda funny that orion would do that, i guesss it makes sence, but it also means its prolly not a good idea to mix SQ components with subs that wont complement them well (and vice versa)
have you thought about maybe just some fanatic P components or something to go with your SPL woofers?
i used to have fanatic p and q awhile back, the q's were alright alil pricey and i ended up blowin them after about a year, ive heard nothing bad about oz components, i dunno i can't stand to have bass and not hear the words just sounds like ass, so im lookin for the good sq up front and thunder in the back, i might end up gettin some sq subs im just tryin to figure out now so when i get the money saved up all i gotta do is go get it
Bake..you can't really define subs as being SQ subs or SPL subs (with few exceptions like DD9900 series subs and MTX RFL's and Orion HCAA's) there are not subs designed with sound quality in mind with huge power handlign and alot of excursion..like the IDMAX, JL w7's, Adire Audio Brahma, Audiomobile MASS, Eclipse 8800's, Crystal CMP's,..these all have some pretty good SPL potential and still sound more than great...
Older SQ oriented subs generally had very heavy cones and minimal excursion...... the world of subs has changed
<< so im lookin for the good sq up front and thunder in the back >>
haha! good answer!
if yoru looking for decent SQ and a great del, id reccommend the best buy setup. you gotta find some guy who works there tho, cause its not worth it otherwise. on teh best buy discount, get a set of the fanatic P components, and get the PSP. my buddy has blown teh tweets twice now, and get a brand new set every time! three component sets for $89? cant beat that....
the midbass goes low, teh set is so clear, the tweets are bright, give them 100 watts per side, youll love them to death.
of course, the HCCA will kill them deeply, as will JL XR, or CDT's, or a/d/s......... but your looking at triple teh investment
