infinity 9633's

well finally broke down and bought some infinity 9633's
on sale for 70 bux
I found a few in here run the reference series.
It seems I will need an approximately .5 inch spacer to install them.
What I am wondering is I have an alpine cde 123 head unit.
I see these are rated at 100rms I have a feeling these are going to
sound like *** without an amp.

Any one running the 9633's or 9632's without an amp
on aftermarket or factory head unit?

If so how do they sound?

Re: infinity 9633's

Without an amp those speakers will be severely under powered, your HU puts out 17w rms, way under the 100w rms rating for the speakers. The highest power speaker you should run without is around 30-35w rms. So in short they wouldn't sound good and you need and amp.

Ya Sort of knew that.
Gonna get some cheap Pioneers or Kickers maybe.

If it still isn't right I may break down and get an amp.
Not real impressed with the Alpine Head Unit may switch back to
Pioneer.

Re: infinity 9633's

I just got reference components and they sound great...mind you i have a 200w rms kicker amp powering them...but thats half the rated wattage of the speakers, and I only have the gain up to about 45% and any higher and it just blasts my eardrums out, so yea, I'm a fan lol

Re: infinity 9633's

Did you have to remove your trunk springs or did you add a spacer

Re: infinity 9633's

I'm referring to the 6502's that I have installed in my front doors and how 50 watts rms seems to be enough to make them sound good...I havent upgraded the rears yet.
