Question Changing to Aftermarket Stereo but... Rear Speaker/Tweeters not Working

My car came with a set of tweeters, mounted on the sides of the doors.

I've noticed that on my stock factory stereo they don't work.
I'm wondering if they're either blown or not connected.

Same thing goes for my passengers side rear speaker.

When I send the fade to the back I only get sound on the drivers side.
What could be wrong? Is it really a pain to swap out the speakers?

I'm going down to Fry's Electronics tomorrow morning to buy this:

http://www.frys.com/product/6496612?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Getting it in red to match my red dashboard gauges

Not a 2-DIN since I'm low on the cash and need it for other things.
Besides I don't really "pump up" my jams like others do lol.

Re: Changing to Aftermarket Stereo but... Rear Speaker/Tweeters not Working

You probably won't be able to tell much until you take the dash apart. Hopefully, nobody has screwed around with the factory radio harness. If everything looks okay in the dash, look at the connections to the rear speakers. My civic had issues with the rear speakers when I got it (used) because somebody tore the wires off between the terminals on the speakers and the speaker cones.

If the rears look okay, you'll have to test the continuity of the wires to the back speakers.

I think replacing rear speakers in the Civic are a pain because you have to remove the entire rear deck. So a 10 minute job is a one hour job.

The stereo you've chosen looks great. Make sure you use some sort of harness to connect this deck to the Honda harness, don't cut factory wiring. You'll can get these harness for about $5-10 online.

Good luck.

Check the resistance to all your blown speakers, they might be working but with no power, or blown.

And I'm not a fan of JVC decks at all...
