You probably won't be able to tell much until you take the dash apart. Hopefully, nobody has screwed around with the factory radio harness. If everything looks okay in the dash, look at the connections to the rear speakers. My civic had issues with the rear speakers when I got it (used) because somebody tore the wires off between the terminals on the speakers and the speaker cones.
If the rears look okay, you'll have to test the continuity of the wires to the back speakers.
I think replacing rear speakers in the Civic are a pain because you have to remove the entire rear deck. So a 10 minute job is a one hour job.
The stereo you've chosen looks great. Make sure you use some sort of harness to connect this deck to the Honda harness, don't cut factory wiring. You'll can get these harness for about $5-10 online.
