Intermittent Wiper 2005 SE

Hi all,

I've searched but found nothing for the 01-05 Civic in regards to adding intermittent wipers. My Civic only has one delay option, then it's the low and high settings. Is it as simple as getting the proper relay and new wiper stalk?

Has anyone added intermittent wipers to their Civic?

Thanks.

Re: Intermittent Wiper 2005 SE

I added the variable delay to my 05 LX. I only needed an EX stalk/switch.

It should be plug and play. There should be 2 extra wires in the harness and connector. They are on the end and the colors will be GRN/WHT & GRN/ORN.

About 90% certain the wires are present, if they are the EX switch plugs right in. Gives about 2 - 14 second delay.

Column covers are a nightmare...fair warning !! after those it is easy.

Re: Intermittent Wiper 2005 SE

Staninator - I want it because the only delay setting I have is about 20 seconds and the rain where I live is tempermental, so I constantly have to switch from delay to the low speed wiper setting or just tilt the stalk up to do it manually. My old Golf was the same way and it was a huge pain in the ass.

Yes, I do live in Canad so my SE does not have intermittent wipers

I will look into the Ex/Si wiper stalk in that case, winter is about to hit so I don't have much time left to work on the car in my driveway, oh the joys of living in Canada. Thanks for the heads up about the cover, I'll see if I can find a used one as well, knowing me I'll screw it up :P

Re: Intermittent Wiper 2005 SE

they have all these other enhancements for canada that we dont get like heated seats, heated mirrors, even a low washer fluid light, but they dont have intermittent wipers lol. yeah see if you can just plug in an ex (or in your case SI) stalk.

My SE does not have heated seats or mirrors Mine is basically a stock base model with AC and power locks/keyless entry. Nothing fancy on mine, too bad though, heated seats rule in the winter

Do you have power windows and cruise control ?? = US LX.

You might want to take a look at the connector for those wires I mentioned before you go ordering the new switch just to be safe. If the 2 wires are present variable delay will work for certain.

Here in the states some SEs are LX, some are EX (not sure if a DX converted to SE exist) Some of them came from the factory as SEs, the factory ones come with the rear window mounted brake light blacked over. And some became SEs at the dealership ( That is how I got my fat 5s) The original brakelight remains uncovered on ones done at dealer (all SEs have spoilers)
