Sound System Stopped Working

Hey everyone, I just picked up a 2003 Civic LX over the summer. The car runs but has given me some annoying troubles.

Earlier today, I was listening to a CD and after a really small bump from a crack in the road, the audio stopped working.

The system still ran, CD player, radio, etc were all still on and operating but no audio was coming out.

I have an aftermarket system with a Kenwood amp:

Upon some investigation... I found this under the hood:

Common sense tells me that something should be connected to that, (I'd assume from the sound system since it connects to the battery)

I'd appreciate any help that is given. Is there anything in particular to look for? I'd prefer to fix it myself if I can since $ tends to be tight around the holidays. I'll take a look at it again in the morning when I get a chance to.

That's your power wire. it goes all the way to your amp. it appears when you hit that bump it finished loosening that inline fuse. you'll probably have to buy a new fuse, since the other half most likely fell off in the road. inline fuses are cheap. pick up an extra fuse that goes in the holder thingy that you'll have to buy a new one of.

Thanks for a quick response, appreciate it. I'll take another quick look along the stretch of road where the bump was.

I'd assume that the missing part was a wire that ran under my car all the way to the back where the amp is?

look under your car..... see if the wire is hanging down..... probably is... if so it's all boogered up. cut it above the booger and install your new inline fuse there... replace the piece to the battery with a longer piece of wire so it reaches the new fuse location.

Re: Sound System Stopped Working

Whoever installed your stereo is a fucking idiot if they ran the power wire under your car and your fuse fell out in the street... its probably ran along your drivers or passanger side to your trunk, and the fuse is probably in your engine bay where most people who know what they are doing put it... or in the trunk, whatever- in an accessable place.
