okay guys so i killed my oem battery (or so autozone said??) with my sub n amp so i wanted to buy me one of those duralast gold batteries cuz i didnt have the money for an optima yellow top...and the duralast had more CCA by a lil bit but still by time i go to ring up i still dont have enough so w/e get a jump n run home whn i get home dad decides to take his battery from his 06 n put in my 05 n park the 06....(both civics mind u) but the 06 battery has less amps than the 05 but either way was workin fine n idky but the 06 was runnign around witht he 05's supposedly "DEAD" battery finely..so idk.....so i was diggin in my basement n found an old battery idk sum weird brand n it has almost same specs n stuff as an optima its justnot u kno a yellow top lol..so i was wondering...would it b same to put in this old battery just charge it n get it working than to go out n buy a brand new one for like 150+ dollars?? or better yet would it b same as buying a duralast gold cuz thts wut i woulda most likely gotten.....just askin for advice thnx guys
ehh, i would buy a new battery, the higher the CCA the better. batteries do get old, so check the sticker on the battery to make sure you get a fresh one. usually theres a small round sticker on the battery case that says 01/08 or something so that means january 2008 was when it got made. dont get one thats over a few months old.
oo alright but um i kno that they specify the diff batteries by the size for the vehicle and all that..would it really matter if i got one made to fit in my engine bay or could i get like one of those 1000+CCA batteries for trucks and just put it in the trunk and rewire it up? n if thats the case of just CCA can i just buy like a cheap brand any size battery aslong as its higher CCA? or does it have to b a small size like that to work right with my vehicle?
yea well idk if i misheard or something but i think autozone here gave a 5yr warranty idk maybe it was something else but yea i was this close to gettin a duralast gold but didnt have the cash oh well but also id like to kno is the whole "TOP" thing like a specialty? or will a standard like trucksize battery at 440CCA word as good as a gold top rated at 450CCA (not same CCA but just bear with it) im meaning like is it just cuz the amps? cuz civic batt is small but if i get a standard biggersized battery rated at same CCA as a performance one would it b same? or is there really sumtin special bout the gold/yellow tops versus the regulars? and is the optima deep cycle really all that or just a new method of making the batt?

dry cell was origionally developed for the military usage. it did not use acid/lead to draw/hold its power....and in turn, this dry cell technology was used for mainly airplanes....because on a regular lead/acid battery, when the plane flew upside down, the acid would spill and the battery would be ruined...thats the basic history of dry cell
i went with autocraft titanium with 500CCA and it was still a group51 battery so it fit in the stock cover and holder. has 3 yr warranty which i guess doesnt matter since theres no advance auto nearby, but oh well. i would always take lead acid battery over anything else. just check the level every few months and add distilled water to keep it full.

wow i didnt kno thts how they originated...i knew tht it wouldnt spill or anything cuz of the tech but thts cool to kno got military equipment in a vic EHEHHE

oo tht sounds nicer thn both the duralast and the optima group51's only rated at like mid to high 400's niceee
but to my last question i guess now i can make it cleared...can i take a dif group batt (51 is vic's n w/e other number is diff car) and put it in my car cuz i want the higher CCA would there b any interference at all? cept batt size?

well....... F-16's have lead acid batteries in them. i used to work on them. they're just sealed so inversion doesn't matter. personally, i'll stick with lead acid batteries. if they're good enough for USAF fighter jets and cargo planes (C-130's also use lead acid) then they're good enough for me. others use ni-cd batteris (A-10 and F-22) and those also have an electrolyte fluid in them. granted, i don't know all the planes, but most that i've seen have some type of "wet" battery in them. i haven't seen any dry cells used on current military aircraft. now, AGE (aerospace ground equipment) and trans uses a lot of the red-top batteries in the ground equipment and trucks.
