Red face noob question

So i'm finishing up my speaker installation and i'm debating if i should get a 4 channel amp and a sub

I want to just get one sub (since i don't listen to much hip-hop/rap and want to save space) and bridge two channels to power it while the other two go to the 6.5 components up front. Will my Clarion unit be able to power the rear 6x9s and send signals to the amp? if so how do i go about wiring it? do i just wire the stock harness to the HU?

I guess what i'm asking is-

is it all or nothing? like are all the speakers going to have to be all powered by the HU or just external amp or can it be both?

here's a diagram for a visual

Re: noob question

6x9s dont give you enough bass? Amp the 6x9s and see if that is sufficient because the best saving of space is to not have a sub at all.

Re: noob question

try a 4 channel amp and hook up all four speakers to it first. if that doesn't do it for you, then upgrade to the sub in the future

edit: besides, i no stereo guru, but when i did my install, i had to turn off the preamp in the headunit (what powers the speakers) to run my speakers on a 4 channel amp. i don't think you can run two on an amp and two on the headunit. but like i said, that might have just been my situation

Re: noob question

6x9 gives a ton of bass when amped so try that first. get 4 channel amp for speakers, if its still not enough get another amp and sub.

Re: noob question

Yeah, I second the other opinions. I'd just run all 4 off of the amp, but I'd mount the amp in the trunk.
