Installing my head unit

i have an 03 civic ex coupe. I was wondering with the head unit i have, what if it isn't exactly the same size as the head unit in the car now... kinda noob question... but help me out.

Is it a standard-size (1-DIN) headunit?

And what do you mean "isn't the right size" exactly? Like, the outline?

well i couldn't tell you, all i know is that its an old kenwood head unit, maybe like from 01-03 in that range, ill go see if i can find the box.

Just measure the height and width of it. If it looks like it's close in size to the headunit that's in there now, it'll fit, it'll just need a small trim kit to be flush.

yeah like it will fit, just the sides wont be filled in.. thats what im trying to say, like it will fit but the trim around it will make it look bad i think? so i was wondering how will it support itself? and where can i purchase a specific trim kit
