My 08 came with a navigation system. The XM satelite radio says it'll work for 3 months, but doesn't mention how long the navigation will work, anyone have a stock navi and is it different for everyone?
Navigation doesn't require a subscription to anything. If you have the hardware, you have navigation forever. It's only cell phone companies that charge a subscription for navigation, they're ripping people off.
well its satellite based, so you never know. prolly could start doing that now like they do with directv where you need a code chip for the receiver to work. but the main thing with nav is, you already have all the software on it so all they could charge you for is the satellite tracking which nobody is gonna go for.
Well....technically they do charge for it....All honda navigations are CD based...not satelite. You have to pay for the updated cd's ( have more updated roads & junk)....200-300 bucks...plus you gotta pay for the navi
haha wow didnt know that. yeah the software updates are so expensive but ive been using 2001 full usa map on my garmin without problems. i dont use it enough to pay another $175 just for stupid cds.
Ah ok, so how often do I buy the DVD navigations? When the face slides down, there's a slot for it. It be cool if it was a DVD player for movies. Is it possible to watch DVDs on the existing hardware with some modifying?
There are two separate slots....one for cd & then you must pull the navi face down & there is another spot w/ a door over it for the DVD navi.....no way to get em confused.....
I usually see the Navi updates best used at 3 yr intervals....anything earlier than that is just pointless!!! You can also buy the disc's straight from honda......go to the customer section on honda's site....
Knocks like $100 off dealer mark up

you really dont have to buy the CDs at all...only if your area has ALOT of changes in new roads...etc...
