fuse problem

so I get in my car and turn on my music and it starts for 3 seconds then stops...WTF? I knew right away both amps werent working, deck was 'fine,' so when i got home I checked over the remote wiring etc, then I tested my power wire just to be sure, well it was dead.

more testing, then i find the fuse isnt working, its not blown. just doesnt work.

swap fuses, problem fixed...

so my question is, what was wrong with the fuse, it has some white junk on it (inside on the metal piece) it looks like glue, couldn't say for sure if it was there before or for how long, but a new fuse works fine and heres a pic if u can see it.. hard to get a fuse pic...

if anyone knows what happened with this fuse, or why... let me know please.

fyi: fuse was used for atleast 2years and the car has been outside almost its entire life in IL weather. so anything from 90+ heat in the summer to negative temps in the winter. and sometimes weird temperature changes... 30+ degree changes within 12-24hours.

maybe this is a weather thing?

thats one of the downsides of ANL fuses. the fusible link could look fine but it'll still break the circuit. only way to test for sure is to test for continuity
