Wiring neon to come on with amp

i was wondering if i could tap the remote turn on for my amp to also turn on my neon for my trunk, does the remote turn on send a constant +12V from the HU or is it just a one time "ping" to the amp to turn it on?

you could wire it to a relay or switch

yup, but most remote turn on lines only support half an amp of current at the most. if your going to use it to control your neons, you need to use a relay.

yupp.....what he said....when you put the key in accessary position to be exact....

since you are putting in your trunk...it will not be a big size I assume...
if your neon draws alot of current you will need an relay but since I am assuming that it is going to be okay size, you won't need relay...cause you will be gettin main power from elsewhere..

actually i have a CCFL (Cold Cathode Flourscent Light) that i want to put in the trunk, its made for computer cases, but i used them before in my G20 before i got rid of it, its only like 12 inches long and i want it to either be on when the amp is on, or ill wire it to a switch that will control 2 that im going to put under the dash too...

Just because it's DC does not mean it is constant

Personally I would say wire it with a relay, although if it's just 1 light you could just grab the power for it from the remote wire, although I wouldn't recommend it.

I am so glad that computer engineers (my major) get lots of electronics classes and I will never have to ask about stuff like this.

no offense to whoever posted this, its just nice knowing what you are doing when it comes to electrical circuits!
