when i hook up the rcas to the amp, the subs come on and make a loud popping sort of a noise. i took it to circuit city, and he said it was definetly the amp. what do you think?
i fried out half of the mosfet's on my t1001bd and that was going to be 450 to send to rf and 350 for short circuit http://www.shortcircuitrepair.com/ to rebuild it so i just gave them the amp to part out in trade for like 4 work shirts.
circuit city and ma audio both suck, so just buy a new amp. I bet that amp doesnt put out 4k watts either.
agreed.. anything that says, "4000 watts" is definite
go buy a new one.. and no more ma audio and no more circuit city
no offense to anyone who happens to be employed there but geez, I see more stuff come into our shop from best buy and circuit city cuz they totally f***ed someone's car up..

well there are a few true 4000w amps out tehre that I can think of... but from MA audio it's definitely
haha actually one my electronics professors explained it as the "IFLSI" rating..
"IF FU**ING LIGHTNING STRUCK IT"... then it would put out 4000 watts. Now I don't mean for someone to get all technical about it and go and research the average voltage of a bolt of lightning and do the calculations but it's a joke lol

I don know if this kills my credability but I used to work at Best Buy. And all of our installers were MECP certified at least 1st class level. I was a Bronze class and read the book for 1st class and I was just the sales guy... Well I did install everything for awhile there but I was primarely a sales guy. But only the installers were required to be certified buy both my Supervisor and I were also certified. It just helped when trying to sell stuff and giving them reason to buy the warrenty and stuff...
^ ha yeah, I used to work in the digital imaging department of worst buy..err I mean Best Buy.. those stupid PRPs and PSPs.. wow, I don't miss that at all. Anyways.. I'm not sure where our customers are coming in.. they just tell us they had bought their product from Best Buy or Circuit City and then it's all messed up.. definitely not a clean installs and I can understand why the customer is/was having problems after looking through the wiring mess. Back in the day, I had an alarm installed at Best Buy up in Wausau (this was before I knew anything about electronics but I knew I wanted an alarm,) and I started having problems with it about a year later or so.. well by that point in time, I knew a little bit about electronics so I figured I'd take a look. I didn't touch anything because all I saw was a huge wiring mess.. I took it back to Best Buy and they fixed the problem but after seeing their install.. and comparing it to our installs.. geez. I'm not saying our shop is all that and a bag of chips or anything.. or that we're the best.. I'm just saying that it takes how much more effort to shorten wires, then camoflauge them to look factory? I never talked to anyone in the car audio department at the Best Buy I worked at but I know a couple of them were certified.. I'm assuming you worked at the Best Buy in Green Bay?
Good guess Dark. It was at store 28 in GB. That Wausau store is a little shady. I only like the Appleton and GB Stores.
SQ champ ur right. Worst Buy isnt for custom install cuz they r not allowed to do them. Not saying that giving the proper equiptment that the install guys couldnt make somethng cool, is false though. Alot of the guys I worked with had some sweet custom stuff in their car and did it on the side for the employees. B4 I was certified I had one of the guys install my Directed Remote Starter/Pager/Security and it's a really clean install.
The reason I like the Green Bay install/Car audio dept so much is because when I worked there we were #1 in the company for a month straight and we dont even get the most traffic. Not even close at all. And over the course of a year and a hlaf I think we averaged 10 out 560 stores... not bad since BBY is the leading electroics retailer in the world.
Bottom line. There r some installers who dont care what their stuff looks like and dont take the time to make it a very clean install. To the untrained eye it might look ok but to another audiophile it will b noticable. Hey one more thing, we had big hookups with the Packers which = big $ cuz they were to stupid to spend the $ on the really good stuff (JL, Eclipse, PG, etc..) and setteled for Pioneer and RF. Oh well, we only have like 5 decent custom shops in GB so I can see why they might come to Best Buy.
Yeah the Appleton store was the one that I worked at.. I'm considering moving back to the area and submitting my resume at Suess Electronics.. Do you know what type of reputation that place has?
