Installation Problem

I was swapping out a buddies amp and just puttin a new one in... and some how or another the speakers inside don't work anymore... I checked all fuses... the cd player still comes on... but nothing to the interior speakers.. tryed to hookup the amp and subs again... and nothing there either... getting power to the amp... just nothing past it onto the subs...

Amp is directed 600
HU Pioneer (not sure model, lower end)
2 Memphis 12"'s (bottom on the line)
4 guage amp kit.

also has two memphis tweeters spliced in to the front speakers, and bass blockers on all other speakers.

I didn't do the install on any of it... he just asked me to swap amps... and I thought no problem... but I guess I was wrong...

if any of you guys could help me out I'd appreciate it...

Thanks, Nate

YOU BROKE IT!

Actually, are the interior lights working or not?
Maybe a relay?

Check the amp's fuse (or is it powering on?) Is it going into protection mode? The speakers are hooked up. The remote wire hooked up, no bad spots in the wires? Check all the fuses (there might be some under the hod too)

ok... interior lights work... amp's fuse is good... it's not powering on.. it was.. but not anymore. remote wire is good... speakers are hooked up... checked the fuses under the hood also... those are fine...

I never saw a big fuse/relay like that...

car starts and functions normally, cd player starts. just no sound to the interior speaker, and the amp doesn't turn on anymore.

oh... the amp doesn't turn on now.. yep blown amp. if you checked the fuses and they are good, then the amp is shot.

ok... but what about the interior speakers then?... those are just running off the Pioneer H/U.... why wouldn't those be working also...

I'm really wanting the interior speakers to turn on... I could care less about the amp right now... but it is nice to know that it's probably ****ed.

the H/U wiring didn't change/move when it happened tho..

I have a friend saying a speaker is blown... and shorting the amp out causing it to not come on... he says I need to unhook each speaker to see which one is blown..

I would think there is a bad ground or connection, especially if you are running:

interior speakers off deck?
subs of amp?

If so, there is more than likely a bad ground or connection somewhere. make sure you scraped off the paint before you grounded the amp.

Is it sharing a ground with another part? cap and amp? if so, is the cap grounded and powered?

did you check the fuse on the CD player? is it loose, or blown?

check wiring!

Did You check all the fuses under the steering wheel? Remote power for the amp may be splice into a spare fuse.
