I just sprayed the whole wood bottom with 3M Super 77 glue. let it get tacky (sit a minute or two.) Spray the back of the carpet, and put it on. Thats it. Just lay it on flat.
If you want to staple the underside down, that would help too.

dude, you have inspired me! I'm about to do this soon. Is there any other site where I can buy the carpet for cheaper? I guess I can check ebay and audio shops.

I just changed it up a bit. I moved the cap around so its next to the box and won't get hit by anything I put in the trunk now.

if no audio shops stock carpet, the internet (partsexpress) will have cheap carpet. the advantage of an upholstry shop is you can perfectly match your trukn carpet before you pay. The disadvantage is that costs you 2-3 dollars more per yard of fabric to do that.

Hey tuner, where did you buy your carpeting? I just dropped $40 at Home Depot on 5/8" mdf and supplies ($10 of which went to a hacksaw). Anyway, now I have to carpet. Any suggestions?

Partsxpress, as suggested by WhiteRabbit has some good prices. I'm just not sure how many orders I need to buy to cover all the wood. Anyway, let me know. Thanks guys. Great DIY!

That looks really, really nice! Great job!
+rep

I'm getting jealous. I was the first to get this idea out there in a DIY. This idea has really taken off. So many trunks are turning out so much better. Great job everyone!

I just love this cause I got a custom look in the trunk, with little work, for not too much money, and all of the work itself is relatively simple.
