you guys are funny, it sounds like all of you are possesed by jl audio demons or something.
on another note i use to sell jl audio and there defective rate was pretty high compared to the other brands we carried(alpine, kicker, diamond, and others)
but you can make any woofer sound good if you build a well designed encloser.
its 90% installer 10% product, cause how often do you see comp being won with w7's? im not sure i have. remember he wants to be loud, and for that i would get a kicker solo x 18 in a ported box for spl and a few amps to push it well.
the more cone area will make it louder, but it will just distort more.
also i like mmats jaggaurnats, those are nice and loud.
jl still has a high defective rate and customers still like to bend over and take their prices. as for me bein on crack i might be who knows but then again why do u guys like jl cause u seen it in a DUB magazine give me a break. i had one in here running off a memphis mojo (16-2000d) the sub was nice but no where near what my previous setups could do. jl by far is not the greatest subs ever.
1 JLW7 is all you need..but if you want to save money. Alpine Type R is awsome..a friend of mine has 1 in his DC5..and thats more than enough pound for me..
the guy i'm buying it from is a dealer for them so... but i'm not sure how much they are priced on the net... he said around 525 after shipping and stuff to him.. seems a little high to me but i don;t know that much about audio so..

JL in DUB magazine? What the hell is a DUB magazine? Seriously? The JL is, by far, IMO at least, the best sub out there. nothing, IMO produces clearer than it, and NOT distort at high playback volume. The Brahma does a decent job staying on par with it, possibly better than any other I've heard. Still though, were I on an unlimited budget, JL W7's would be my weapon of choice. As for them coming back, you do realize that every sub has threshholds right? Regardless, no company out there has a better waranty, that they stand behind, as JL. Your sub tears up, well, assuming you bought it from an Authorized Dealer, it's replaced at no cost to you. They are a company that stands behind their product, you can't say that much anymore.
I LOVE my G&S Designs subs. They hit very very low, pretty damn high, have AWESOME response to all types of bass, and are extremely clear. Clearer than anything else Ive ever used. But this is jmo, since nobody has ever used of heard of these, they'll never use them. hehe, so Im original here. My car sounds like one of those trucks with extremely clear loud bass
Ive used Cerwin Vega, MTX (these sounded very nice, 3 in a plexi box), JBL (crap), audiobahn, and a couple others.
i just got an Atlas 12" from ascendant audio. (www.ascendantaudio.com) and this thing is freaking sweet. it plays those low low low tones that you love to hear and its really clear. lemme tell you, it pounds too!! check it out. the only thing i don't like about it is the look of it. its just all black with no logo. haha but who the hell cares? it sounds soo freaking tight. i really recommend ascendant audio. the atlas is the least expensive of their line up and im amazed by it - so im sure if you're going to spend hella money you could get their top of the line series and sound great. just MO
i was just talking to the guy i'm buying my adire brahma from and he's ahving trouble finding out when he'll get them now.. early may for them to start shipping them out.. i really want one but might change so by thr sounds od it JL is the way to go but they;re expensive are they not? lol i'm kinda on a budget for my audio..

A while back my 10W6V2 tore. I considered re-surrounding it as it was well outside of it's warranty. I built the box myself and installed everything myself. I called JL service to ask them if they had a suggestion as to what to use to resurround it. The guy asked me if I had a warranty etc, etc, etc. Long story short, they replaced the whole woofer with a brand new in box woofer no questions asked.
