I guess those are the benefits of getting one new... got mine from my buddy. It didn't have any of the mounting brackets, just straps. I think I'll use some nuts and bolts and washers to attach it to the cardboard-ish spare tire cover. It will likely roll around a tad, but I think the nuts and bolts with huge washers will distribute the weight enough to keep the whole setup solid.

You could go to the hardware store and get some pipe strapping, spraypaint it black, and use that to make your own metal brackets.

Actually mine was a "used" clearance item at CarToys. I think the metal mounting brackets are an option. I have no idea why mine came with them though. I don't even think they are used. Not a bad deal getting a Bazooka RS6A-HP tube, with metal brackets, new wiring harnesses, for $49.99

quick tip for people running amp wires
instead of removing the rear seats, this is what i did

if you fold the rear seats down, you will expose a small panel door in the plastic.
if you open that panel, you will see other wires running in there as well as the black wire that runs from the front of the car to the rear underneath the door (maybe for the trunk open...who knows.)
anyways, you should have also seen this black wire when you removed the panel underneath the door

i just used a coat hanger and fished the amp wire up the side panel (this is where your right arm would be if you were sitting in the rear passenger seat), then grabbed it from the small plastic door.
you dont actually feed it through the door, just use that to grab a hold of your wire, because you can actually lift up the small carpeting in the trunk and have direct access through the trunk into that small panel opening.

hard to explain i guess...let me know if there are any questions

- The rear seat bolt on the left side of your car below where the back and bottom of the rear seat meets. It's great because it will be only around a foot or two away from where you're going to be installing your amp, plus you don't have to drill any holes or anything like that. just make sure you have it connected perfectly so it can't come loose and put lots of electrical tape over it once it's covered up. Look at the DIY for details.

to hook up the remote wire and rcas behind the deck, what exactly do i need to remove or disemable in order to push the deck out? out of the top of my head, i know the plastic panel right underneath the passenger side feet, glove department, and what else?

in my 01 civic all i had to do to get the cd player out was pry off the panel where the cigarette lighter is. then there are 2 bolts holding the whole console thing in that are a pain to get out. then try pushing it out but i had to gently pry along the side of the console to get the tabs out. then it just comes right out.
when i ran my power wire i couldnt find any gromets anywhere so i had to drill a hole by the passengers feet and ran the power wire throught there. what do u guys think of that?

What do I think?

OK...

I think you didn't look long enough. The gromet is there; it's huge, and it's in a great position, about 3" to the right of the center console, about 8" up from where the passenger-side metal floor starts to be covered but the rubber whateverthatthingiscalledthatgoesupthefirewall.

Since you drilled, invest in some high-temp silicone to seal the hole so you don't let hot air into your cabin or risk cutting your power wire on sharp/jagged metal.

if you dont want to mess with the wires in the gormmet then do what i did, i drilled a new hole in the fire wall and used a firewall bushing to protect and secure the power cable. you can get the bushing from crutchfield.
