The new 05 special edition civics have a new double din headunit design. The console is now perfectly pre-fabricated for a small screen. Pics are here >>http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=178725. What do u guys thinK?

No easier... just different. You can get the same double din size on an 04 if you simply buy the kit. I doubt there are any real differences behind the dash, and AFAIK that deck only comes with a specific model.

^Custom is custom, I'm with him. Not easier just different. New dash new set of problems. still have to find the right screen that works the best.

The opening in the dash is still the same size isn't it?

In other words, will a dash kit for an 01-04 model work on an 05? If I had to guess I would say that deck is a double din unit that just uses a dash kit

I agree with Mega, especially since the real custom work isn't really done putting a screen in a dbl din kit. It's relocating the headunit if you are just putting a straight up screen in the dash. I think someone could make big money by fabricating a console with 3 dins, two together and one sep and move the climate controls away. Offering easy install of a screen plus din-sized hu. Not sure if there is room, never looked that closely.

What would be really cool is a whole HVAC/radio assembly kit with smaller vents, room for a screen on top and a DIN slot below with a kit to relocate the a/c, vent and defrost buttons to the center console or something
