what do you think of my custom center console.

ok so here it is. my unfinished center console with the screen bondoed in.
i need to work out some bumps, paint and sand a bit more then im done.
I had to remove and fill in the three holes for the buttons in the middle because the casing for the screen goes where they were.

I'm not understanding why you needed to remove those climate control buttons unless the shroud on your screen was really huge

I'm betting the ac control pod was removed because it appears the screen is a little larger, or positioned closer to them than the standard opening. That coupled with the recess and then the actual control pod on the back (not the buttons, but the other part of it) is touching it, or close to it. That's my guess. Looks good, just finishing work left.

thanks guys for the feedback!
this is my first bondo fabrication job.
it came out alright but i think it could be better but it will do.
truthfully it wasnt that hard. bondo dries really fast, within 20-30 mins, and the only hard part is sanding.
the reason why i had to remove the climate control was because the front plate of the lcd panel has buttons on the bottom and it extends more than the top edge so it goes over the place where the climate buttons are. i cant just cut off the extra plastic cuz the screws that hold the lcd unit together screw into that portion of the lcd front plate.

here is a pic of it half installed. i still need to sand the paint so its even. the paint i bought was glossy but i didnt think it would have been this glossy.

might I suggest something? good. On your bondoing portion of your project, you might want to invest in a body file, for future projects. Another thing you might want to get, which makes your surfaces much smoother, and also fills pit marks is some finishing glaze. There are still some low spots that are visable, but I can see progress frmo teh original pic.

i bought the putty for pinholes and bubbles but i found that its not that great at filling the bigger holes. if i can find another center console i might redo it later, i hacked this one too much.
well i learned a lot about bondoing.

popcornplaya. i took your advice and got the file.
its a 4 in 1 design with 2 rasp 1 single and 1 double cut. i just finsihed filing down the sides.
i cant stand not being satisfied with my project so im over hauling it.
also im gonna get some flat black paint instead of this glossy stuff.
i just filled in the low parts and filed down the bumps. im waiting for the bondo to dry right now and im gonna go fill in the pinholes with the glaze. i'll take another pic after im done.

the metal piece gets in the way if you place the deck near the bottom of the cig lighter place.
if you place it in the upper part then there is EXACTLY enough room to fit it in. i'll post a pic soon so you get a better idea.

when you say the cigarette lighter piece, are you talking about the kinda horseshoe shaped piece that goes around the center console and then curves up towards the dash and also has 2 little removable covers in there?

here is the final results
sorry for the crappy pics i took them with my sony clie,

head unit relocated. i didnt mold it all the way to the black part cuz im planning to get an aftermarket later on.

that black thing on the bottom is the IR sensor for the remote. i still havent found a place for it yet so i just stuff it in the little compartment under the head unit.
funny story, when i was reconnecting the HU back in the time was exactly 1:00 so the clock is matched up to the real time.

BTW my cup holders are useless!!!
i think once i get a smaller HU i will be able to fit cups in there again.
