I just got the amp and Im running 2 he2's of it (12inch dual 4) Im happy with it, but expected more, I guess my gains and shit are set up wrong. I have a sealed box, and just was wondering how all you guys with the 500/1 have set yours up? Any tips or secrets?

Cool, thanxs I saw that earlier, thats what ive been trying to use, on a side note I was messing around with the gains and knobs, and forget which one i touched, and afterwards the amp wouldnt turn on, so im scratching my head and turn to the manual, essentially the amp was on the mode where it can sense a remote signal? **** i love this amp!! Cant wait to get it set up right, props to JL
Well, if it helps you out, I have my gain on my 500/1's at about 45% of max (4v preouts on an Alpine HU) my subsonic filter is on, and set at 20 hz (I think) my Q is at 0.7, Center Freq. is at 45, and Boost [dB] is at +10.
You can see how you like those settings, but I think that amp may not be enough power for your HE2's...they have an RMS of 400 watts each. If you get your amp tuned correctly, and still arent happy with your output, I would suggest getting another 500/1.
here is how i have mine setup: (i suppose it's still like itwas when i took it out of the car about 2 months ago)
Preamp Output Section:
Output Mode: Full Range
Filter Slope: 12 dB
Filter Freq: about 42.5
Filter Mode: LP
Infrasonic Filter:
Mode: OFF
Q: 0.5
Center Freq: 20
Boost(dB): approx +2
Infrasonic Freq (Hz): 15
Bass EQ: OFF
Amp LP Filter:
Mode/Slope:OFF
Filter Freq.:80 Hz
Amplifier Input Section:
Input Voltage: Low
Input Sensitivity: Slightly left of vertical
Signal Sensing: Off
that is how mine is setup, I have it hooked up to a Virtual Technologies RIP Hammer 10. again, it hasn't been in the car in about 2 months, so these setting could not be what the amp was actually at when i took it out. i had it lying around, and figured that they were still the same. but, people have played with the amp.

uhhh...popcornplaya....according to those settings, all your parametric EQ settings are bypassed, and you are playing the amp at fullrange with no low pass filtering.
well, i have had it out of the car for about 2 months now. some of the settings might have gotten messed up while it was sitting in my room. i didn't think i had messed with anything, but a couple of people have played with the amp while it has been out of the car. so i am not sure. i don't remember exactly where i had everything set, so i am not exactly sure if thats where everything was. when i get it back in the car i will be able to tell. but i don't know what it'll sound like in the car yet. i just picked it up and typed everything how it was. sorry if it was informative. i didn't know if the settings had been fooled with or not.

yep, i put it back in there, just to see if it sounded like ish, since the settings were like they were, and they did in fact sound like ish. sorry for the misdirection. i didn't know that my amp had been tweaked that much while out fo the car. anyway, i did a quick tweak (didn't tune to exactly like i would normally have it), and here is ruoghly what it is set at. didn't touch anything on the left most panel.
Infrasonic Filter section:
first slider to the right
Q=1.6
center freq= 60
boost=+3
infrasonic= 30
bottom slider to the right
Amp LP Filter section:
slider: center
filter freq= 80
Amp Input Section:
top left slider: right
input sensitivity: around horizontal
top right slider:right
that was a quick (5 minute) tweak. setup mostly for raw bass.
