I was wondering if anyone has seen or if anyone here has their system set up where they hung the amps from the rear package shelf........see my setup is totally custom......like my placement of the subs and I recently got another kicker 400 amp and two new subs so I'm goign to focus one amp to each sub to power them.......I want to hang my amps from the rear package shelf and I will end up doing it I just wanted to see if anyone has it already done so I could see what it looks like.......thanks in advance. (if you look at my gallery the pics were taken RIGHT after I got done installing everythign so dont mind the lack of carpet or the mess of wires its completely cleaned up right now and it is waiting the arrival of my new subs)
I wouldn't recommend it.
You need proper ventilation, heat rises, and mounting them there will make them run hotter than mounting them flat or vertically.
You also don't want to ground the amp shell to the body of the car. If I remember correctly, this can cause signal noise due to bad grounding. Best places are the back of the rear seats, on the speaker box itself or under the front seats.

im sure you could hang em from there, but you wouldnt be able to see them at all... now if you were plannin on running some linear actutors so they would flip down or so they would slide into view, then it would work beautifully
I've gotta agree with Bellz...remember, heat rises, and when your amps are mounted on the rear deck, the heat will stay on the amps. If you do end up doing this, I would invest in some fans and have them blow across the amps to push the hot air off.
Thanks you guys.....see the problem I have now is that now I dont really have a place to put them......Like i cant mount them on the rear deck cause of the heat problem..and i dont want to mount them on the backseats although i might have to and also i cant mount them on the ground casue the whole reason i have my trunk the way it is is for the space on the ground.........so yeah if you guys have any ideas lemme know.....thanks for your replies so far
there should be a pocket behind your rear tire well, you could always fiberglass an amp enclosure in those spaces on either side, with or with out a plexi window. they'd be displayed cleanly, be custom, and keep trunk floor space. you could also have your spare relocated, and use the spare tire well to glass in for your amp (im actually glassing something like that in my spare well (totally removable) right now). put in a window, in a new trunk floor of course. unless that's where your subs are mounted. if that's the case, then i could give you some more ideas.

I had the amp under the rear deck on my last car. Never had any problems. If you can maunt them I say go for it.
Personally I think under the rear deck is better than under the front seat. And people put amps under the seats all the time. Thats where I put both of my amps in my new truck. Didn't have any other choice.
The only issue I can think of is the trunk torsion bars that help lift the trunk. They might get in the way.
PS: You can make an amp rack like mine. Keeps them protected quite nicely. And I never had overheating issues w/ that either. Even on 4 hr trips to my parents w/ the seats up the whole way. Look at my website to see what I did.
I'm trying to figure out a similar idea for my trunk because I want as much space as possible as well. If you figure out away to get it under your rear deck let me know because I wanna copy your idea! Haha... Anyways, the thoughts I had was to kind of build a rack sort of thing on top of the back part of the floor and maybe covering and carpeting it leaving vents for cooling so you can still stack stuff on top of it. Or putting them on the back seats and making the backseat one big piece instead of the 2/3rds and 1/3rd folding down you'd have one big thing that folds down. But I really don't like either of those ideas, so far if I can find a way to get it to the rear deck that would be the way to go. Also, how do your subs sound being in the back corners like that? I have 1 sub and that looks pretty good, but I'd be interested to know how it affects the sound. Good luck!
another option would be taking the cloth off the backs of your seats, and glassing in an amp enclosure. might take some time, and cutting, and what not, but i'd bet it'd look good.
Thanks everyone for the ideas they are awesome........I think im going to try to use the under the read deck idea but im not sure yet i have to get back there and really look..........as to going to the behind the seat idea that would work except i didnt want to drill holes in the cloth (its dumb i know but o well) but yeah takin the cloth off hasnt dawned on me yet too much the only problem w/ that is that you'd have to like carpet the back of the seat and i dont know if the wires would get damaged at all if they were bent up and down a lot but that is defenitely a good idea............a question though.....Popcornplaya where are you relocatin the spare to?! O and in response to how it sounds......they sound amazing with them facing forward from those two points in the trunk......becuase they aimed at the center of the car or basically over the shifter they are at a pefect level to hit and they sound crystal clear.........not to mention i didnt have to mess around with dynamatting my trunk because there is no rattle....but yeah they sound awesome and im totally pleased with how everything is working so far....i heard if i turned them around i'd get about 2-3 more db's but im not too worried bout that so yeah i'll post pics of what i do cuase everything came today so im putting stuff and wiring more tomarrow but i'll get back thanks again.
