anyone know how to bypass alpine dvd saftey

i just bought the iva d900 and dont want to hook up the two wires to the brakes, to me it is stupid that u have to do a combo of things just to get the dvd to go on, i didnt know this before i bought it, so now i am stuck. Is there some way to bypass this phase so that i just have to flip one switch or no switch at all. i know it is illegal to play this while driving , i am not stupid enough to do so because of distraction, but at those stop and go cruises (Shows) it would be nice if i could show off that i can play dvd's with the 7" screen instead of just playing my music.

Anyone Know how to bypass that saftey lock on the video that would like to share?

thanks, john

not 100% sure but i believe they have you hook up the ground to the e-brake so when the e-brake is on the ground is connected, just hook that wire up to a reg. ground and that should do it.

first look in the manual and find if the wires require a ground or a + signal to work for the bypass. if they require a ground, connect it to the black wire behind the radio, if they require a +, connect it to the yellow wire behind the radio... easy enough

Yeah it says connect this wire to the parking brake lead, then connect this one to the foot brake lead, so i believe the wires are positive .

easiest way to find out
go to the parking break lead and the regular brake lead and test to see what they are

ok, alpine's tvs need to sense that you pressed the brake while you set the parking brake, you WILL NOT be able to bypass it just by hooking wires up to 12v or a ground, so to bypass it you will need two switches, a momentary switch and an on/off switch.

hook up the momentary switch to the wire that is to be hooked up to the brake wire, and then the other side of the switch to 12v+, then take the on/off switch and hook one side up to the parking brake lead on the tv, and the other side of the switch to a ground.

then all you will have to do to watch a video source is hold the momentary switch while you turn the on/off switch to on.

OR, you can get a bypass from PAC that will do this automaticly, but that part costs i think about $50.

Sweeet !!! I found one good way to do it, for anyone that has the iva d900 to bypass the video safty u do that^(above).
items needed-------->curcuit tester and a switch

Run the foot brake lead to the wire that lights up on the tester when the brake is applied, then take the switch and wire the red wire, (or positive side to the parking brake lead wire off of the wire harness for the brain unit, and the black((ground) wire to a solid ground source
that is it. in order to play dvds while your driving when u get in your car and start it hold the foot brake then flip the switch off on off on and your set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( u need to do this everytime u start the car)

but u can watch while you are driving!!!

wow, I can't believe someone replied to a thread from 2003. I remember this thread too. Like a piece of history.

I imagine that there isn't one person who posted in this thread who still own a 7th generation civic.

True, but its not bad to refresh it I guess. It does work for newer models of Alpine decks
