Just about 7 years. I agree SOHCScreamer, that movie has made professional ricers, people who think they know but have no frickin' clue what the f*ck they are doing. June 6th it will happen all over again, 2 Fast 2 Furious, I can't wait.....
well, about 0 days... never liked modded imports ... i cant stand cars for the most part, and i got my civic for reliability and gas efficiency..... all about the car stereo
even though I modify my car and go to the track ocassionaly,I can't really say i'm into the import scene
what exactly do you mean when you say import scene???
do you mean import scene as owning an import?
do you mean import scene as going to illegal street venues?
do you mean import scene as hanging out by one import car and calling yourselves a car club?
do you mean import scene as competing in local drag events with your modified hona/acura/mazda/toyota...etc???
do you mean import scene as trying to copy the FATF to a key and get every single NOS decal on your binder?
I personally call it modifying your car, I drive an import yes but it's all about modifying the car that you currently own, whether it be the sound system, suspension, or even led washer nozzles.....I personally know that regardless of what car I own, it would be modified some how, even if I'm just upgrading the brakes (very important modification, by the way)
btw, i was really stond earlier tonight and i seriously thought i was in the fast and the fuirous. it was like the last scene kind of. when i upshifting i went to slow motion and when i downshifting it was sped up. the really cool thing was i was going like 10 mph lol
btw, i first got into imports when i was at kroger one day, i saw a red supra that was absolutely gorgeous on the cover of SCC, so i bought it and during the summer me and my friend got into it. hes getting out of it soon because i dont think hes liked his experiences with racing his auto eclipse gs. everyone beats him. (yes my 134hp econobox beat a 2.4L 153 hp by a car length)
2 years ago, when I was in high school, a friend invited me to be a 'recruit' in a car club he was in. I brought my stock'ed-out Civic to one of their friday meets. I had to admit I was impressed with the cars there, and many many Spanish chicks. Turns out, the girl I shared a locker with (there's always a shortage of lockers in my HS), was a common visitor there (she was so hot).
The club was called the "Street Sweeperz"; NOT as in broom sweeping, Sweeping as in the Yankees sweeped the Orioles. The local meet would start around 10pm. Each town had a Chapter. There were about 4 towns in the club. then once we got our local members in, we headed up with the main/larger Chapters, and went somewhere to have fun. Yes it was always fun. Anyway, the Passaic Chapter (the main group) started just fooling around, and less people showed up. Alas the group broke apart.
It was cool. The best cars had individual letter "STREET SWEEPERZ" benner'ed across their windshield. Ugly cars weren't allowed. I miss seeing every hot car around my area with one on.
about 7 years, ever since i saw a dark forest green 94-95 ( dont know what year) RX-7, looked sooo nice! After that, it was nonstop obssession with the RX-7, and moved on to just Imports
Originally posted by R3DF0G I first got into it 4 years ago when I bought my 300ZX. The civic just isn't the same though..............getting something different soon.
same here. im working on an MKIV Supra.
cheaper payment. cheaper insurance.
A little over 2 years ago, when I started talking to RedDragon333 and he told me about his civic and what he was doing to it.
Before that I lightly followed classics because they're what my dad knows really well so he taught me to appreciate them as soon as I could recognize what a car was. Now I'm ever so slowly learning what the hell all this newfangled car nonsense is all about. I'm taking my time...I'm a slow learner and it's not really a priority in my life anyway. Prolly cuz I don't have my own car. YET. mua ha ha! ...or something
