The scary part was the first line of the second paragraph, "The half-grown female colossal squid ....." . That thing is only half grown, how big do they get? Are the males even larger?

The body of the colossal squid is much bigger than the giant squid, which can weigh up to 900 kg, 2,000 pounds when fully grown... the one in the picture is less than a quarter size of the fully grown one ..... probably baby colossal squid ...

no the males are usually smaller in the wild ...

the scary part is that no one has even seen a 'colosal' or 'giant' squid live. these things grow to be the size of a school bus and they have never been seen live, only dead. that scares the hell outta me, wonder what else is down there besides jimmy hoffa and the lindenburg baby
