its about time that this happened somewhere. in NYC they have banned smoking in almost all public places like clubs, restaurants, etc... i am happy that this is happening. myself being in the military, i see how smoking inhibits your ability to do alot of stuff. i don't want to piss smokers off but i know i am not the only one who hates the smell of smoke. even some smokers i know do alot of things so they won't smell like smoke. just my 2 pennies.

agreed. Smoking is in no way useful to anyone. It does calm stress to a point. It's just psychological stuff, the need for it. You might as well smoke MJ though. It's less harmful to the body, is more in relaxation, and is less addictive.
Don't give me any of that gateway drug bullsiht. Taking mj is the same as drinking beer. It's up to the user how much he/she wants and what he/she will do next. If you want to drive after you drink, it's up to you. If you want to try coke after MJ, its up to you. Doing the first doesn't necessarily mean you will go to the next.

Agreed.... I used to dabble in the "Laughing Grass" and i never wanted to do anything else, even when i was high.
But yes, I can't stand smoke...

The logic of a pothead will never be understood...
Anyways, if everyone is going to get all heavy about smoking a ****ing cigarette, why don't we try tackling the drinking problem? Oh wait, its socially acceptable to get drunk of your ass, just not to puff on a cigarette. I'm not a smoker, but I consider drinking a much bigger problem than smoking a cigarette.

There has been a smoking ban in Duluth MN since Jan of 02. I am not complaining, I am a non smoker. I like it. And April 1st, the law is going into effect into bowling alleys, pool halls, and other places that were granted exemptions. I dont know the law, but now nowhere in Duluth, you can smoke. Now cross the bridge and in Superior, different story. The bars are just nasty, and you stink when you leave. Nasty.
Edit and add: This is in Todays (3-31-03) Duluth Newspaper. I forgot to add, that Duluth residents voted in a city wide referendum to have no smoking, after a much heated debate, and the city council decided to have a vote on the matter.
I like that idea, i'm not a smoker and i work at a restaurant, the host stand is right by the smoking section and whenever i come home, i smell like smoke.
Umm...Weed is more harmful than tobacco ounce per ounce. Weed may not be addictive but it does decrease motivation in most people. Also, you will find that people who have smoked the stuff for quite some time (40 yr olds who started in the teens) have a few screws loose in the head. Plus, weed has been found in cells in the brain and never goes away.
I quit smoking cigs about 3 months ago after 8 yrs. I don't particular care for the smell of smoke anymore, but I don't agree with banning it in restaurants. I couldn't imagine being in a bar that banned cig smoking.
Same kind of law just recently passed in Florida. By July of this year, any place that serves food is going to be smoke free. I can't wait. I hate walking out of places and smelling like cigarette smoke.
Personally i dont think that there is anything wrong with smoking in restraunts and bars. When your in a non smoking section you cant even tell that people are smoking in the room right next to you. I can see in bars where u might have to sit right next to a guy whos smoking but i dont think its that big of a deal. Its part of the bar enviroment. And i g uess if you dont like smelling like smoke, take up smoking and you wont even be able to smell it anymore. I reccoment newports, because there a pleasure to burn.
Im a smoker hopefully becoming a non-smoker soon. I dont agree with banning the smoking in NY. A few years ago they made restaurants put in air purifiers and spend a boatload of money to seperate the smoking section from the non smoking section and now its all non smoking. This law is going to effect Nassau Countys economy (NYC law isnt active yet, suffolk county isnt active either yet) I already went to a pool hall in Suffolk cause I couldnt smoke in the Nassau one. I personally think more and more the gov't is trying to limit our freedom. The gov't is changing the whole basis on which this country was founded. This country was founded on being free not paying unfair taxes to England (5% maybe) now the gov't takes roughly 1/3rd of our income. Our forefathers are probably rollin in there grave that these idiots are doing and have done. In the next 50 years this country will not allow us to take a shit without calling it in first. I just feel that our freedoms are being taking away more and more each year. Dont get me wrong I LOVE THE US but enough is enough.
Maryland is not Non smoking. It has to be a enclosed or separate are of the restuarant or bar area to be smoking. Banning cigs is damn stupid. cali i can understand... forest fires. MD NY... EAST COAST... DAMN HUMID. No need. know if we are banning smoke becuase of a bunch of whinning biatches that go into a public PUBLIC place and don't like smoke or think they are going to die because of it, then damn. Even my dad who hates smoke with a passion excepts the fact that IT IS A BAR and that's what happens when people drink AT A BAR.
As stated before are freedoms are slowely being stripped. What the hell is the point of calling an area Public anymore. Everything is every bleeding hearts private bubble.
I was in SOCAL last year at a street car show. All kinds of cars there it was pretty cool until... I was smoking a cig in the street and a lady bumps into ME. She hits my cig and blames me and starts yelling at me. I was Like OH HELL NOOOOOOOO! I laid into her cali ass.
Let me kill myself. And if you don't like smoke or killing yourself then stay home. I know Blah blah blah, I could go on for ever. JUST MY 2 cents. Oh and BTW, Weed got me smoking cigs. Funny huh. I quit weed and kept smoking cigs.. Well it's legal!!!!
