Well at the start of the obesity epedemic, films and media brought nutritional information to the spotlight. Since then most stores have the information, but only provide it upon request, while you wait over 30 min for them to dig, or look it up online.
On the topic of killer liquid drinks, juice/Tea is being manipulated to new levels in the same manner as this shake. For instance, a typical bottle of cranberry juice has over 40 grams of sugar. This might be appealing to some with sweet tooths, but it essentially turns the product into liquid candy.
