first his comments on why katrina took place and now he is saying the ariel sharon's stroke is due to devine intervention. is he really that stupid or does he say it to get attention?
by his logic the miners in wv made god mad. The bible can say whatever you want it to say. However it doesnt say a word about owning an unconstitutional gold mine in liberia. he's popular because he didn't start off all crazy like. He started off as a pastor a normal pastor. Then he got a following. Now he has a bunch of otherwise normal followers. Its a normal thing for con-artists to do. You put a normal logical known to be true fact or commonly held idea next to your point of view. At first the point of views he has are "violence is bad for kids" "gays are not normal" "porn is bad for the family" After 10 years of hearing facts then a point of view it all kind of meshes together. All of a sudden you think the sky is blue and NBC wants gays to turn your kids gay. He also has a ton of books to sale. So what moves items quicker than anything? FEAR!!! remember 9/13/01? no? well duct tape was sold out like never b4. Why? Not because its the most useful thing ever but because of fear. All around America there are fearful people ordering his retarded books and DVD's to prevent god from aiming terrorist attacks at their homes or to keep the "Jesus' spite strokes" out of their brains.

give 9 people the same page out of the same bible and wait 2 weeks. ask them what they learned and you will get 11 seperate sorys and 15 rules. If there was a book of jesus i would have a lot more faith. Its just the fact the book was written way after the fact that makes it foolish. I will raise my kids in the church because hey for 1.5 hours a week they have the fear of god. I think thats really all its for. A good way to control the masses and get weekly donations.

Hey man, It is the holy spirit that would have everyone of the 9 people saying the same thing. People without holy spirit (saved by Jesus's death on the cross for us- which is proven by history) can't understand the bible - it is like chineese to an American...The book, as you call it, was inspired by the holy spirit which was inside all the men who wrote the bible - see, I know it was inspired by God himself through man. Fear of God is a good thing...but real my friend. I fear God and I am an adult. I also think God loves me very , very much, protects me many times in my life, and I am his child, Christ is my friend. Sorry for preachin a bit man - but I had to kick it out. I like this site a lot, love 7th gen civic , love my civic, like all the bro's on here with civics, helping each other out with our vics...have a good day man over on the west coast.

Well, I don't want to get into a religious debate here, but people tend to believe what they *want* to believe; i.e. what's convenient for them to believe. Look at the book of revelation. Most accounts have the apostle John writing it but it has been dated to about 90 A.D. People at that point in time did not live to be over 100 years old. So, if the date of the book is accurate (which is calculated by events written about in the book), then it was almost certainly written by someone else.
Also, most ppl think it means the end of the world. Read it again and tell me if you don't think it was "revealing" the fall of the Roman Empire. A beast (emperor) with 7 heads (7 emperors at that time had ruled Rome)? 7 hills (obviously referring to Rome)? The horseman on the white horse with a bow in his hand (representing the barbaric tribes north of Italy)? Again, another example of ppl understanding what they *want* to understand rather than what is so obvious in the text before them.
BTW, these interpretations are from a Bible class I took in college about 10 years ago so I'm a bit sketchy on the details.
Now, back to Pat Robertson. If one person's afflictions are due to God's wrath, where do we draw the line? Wouldn't EVERYONE'S be due to the same reason? Now we're back in the early ages without reason where everything was due to some deity.

Why is there a story in the biblt that answers the same question that a greek or roman god answered in a previous religion? I mean honestly look at it. If you laugh at the idea of Chariots pulling the sun then why do you accept your book? I made the connection that genesis was written just to be our new greek gods at the age of 10. I am pretty sure my teacher wasnt satan coming to hurt my faith. So if thats the basis for everything it holds no weight. In 10k years people will read about our monolithic god and jesus' magic and how we stunted our own knowledge and development out of fear that god would send us to hell.

This morning on the 700 club Pat Robertson denied he ever said that Ariel Sharon’s stroke was punishment by God for dividing His land. He was reading from a “transcript” of the show where he allegedly invoked the prophet Joel to imply that Sharon pissed off god and brought god’s wrath on himself. Naturally, he read the parts emphasizing how tragic it is and glossed over or deleted altogether his insane rhetoric about Sharon getting his due and blamed the whole thing on the “liberal media.”
