I know how you feel, tho. Computer issues piss me off so bad sometimes.

Yeah, let us know if you ever got it fixed.

if you really wanna get back at stupid dell, call and pretend like you're a complete idiot. Don't get angry, just play dumb as hell. Tell them you're trying to put pics on a dvd and it doesn't work. Act like you don't even know how to eject a disc. Have them walk you through every step of their supported software, then when it doesn't work (and you're reading the error messages to them), they will send you a new dvd burner. I'm assuming you still have warranty.

i just did that! and guess what? the customer rep (indian) put me on hold until he finally transferred me to another rep which is a dumber bitch (american).. then she transferred me to guess what? a close extension that says "please call back later" then yall know what happened? i have to call back and be on hold again as if i just called them shitzers.
so at that time my blood pressure skyrocketed from normally 120/80 to 120 million/80 thousand
so i decided to do a different way of contacting them... yes by the good o'l internet chat support. so i resumed to cool off a lil and asked him several questions and guess what this idiot do now? instead of giving me direct answers to help, he sends me a shitload of links for me to click at and read it! aaarrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh.
i so got more pissed and guess what i did, i made this thread: so that kinda explains why i was acting like that.
btw: i'm still pissed off to the fvck power.

okay don't be pissed over a lousy computer. You have to act nice and basically convince them that the drive doesn't work anymore so they give you a new one. I went through all this, the hours on hold, trying this and that, finally they give in. I got new speakers (upgraded thx), 4 new floppy drives (the one I have now doesn't work anymore either), and a few other things. Mostly tho I had to go buy real hardware because the dell based junk it came with never worked. Now I'm happy with the comp finally. Why don't you have someone else call them? Oh and usually nights are best. I know how you feel tho there are some reps I couldn't even understand! My dad had to take the phone and do some yelling lol.

Dell is the best company IMO, if you buy a computer (in most cases - build it yourself) but if you cant/dont, I've never had probs with dell, their support was fine by me when I had mine, I even got a brand new $300 vid card when mine burnt up (from dust - haha) so that was mostly my fault, but yet I got a new one for free! you just have to know how to work em..

and most the problems arent dell at all I had a HUGE burner problem, it'd randomly fvck up, it was a Sony burner, NEVER worked right, it'd work a few times, then require a reboot or 2, that was ALL SONY. NOT DELL.

no offense but seriously look at whats going on, and you're not the only one who needs help, look at it from a support tech's position.. and some may not know your problem, you gotta learn some time, so just calm down, try what everyone is saying, or get a Plextor, and ditch urs, which is prolly a Sony :P

dell closed there tech support center in texas over a year and half ago and moved it to india. Your talking to someone that lives 10,000 miles away and probably gets paid $1hr.

I honestly dont think they care, especially if your rude to them. Anyone whose worked in customer service or retail sales knows when the customer starts acting like an ass, they stop looking for ways to help them, but instead try to find ways to get rid of them. Its just human nature, no one wants to help someone being rude to them.

check the cable make sure the dvd burner and hdd aren't connected on the same cable. Sometimes that can cause burning errors. Make sure you windows is fully updated too.

i had the same problem with dell...we had to get 3 different computers before it actually worked...the first two we received had bad harddrives and processors and they tried to get us through technical support like a million times which i knew wouldnt work after about 50 times of calling them and hours on the phone wasted...i got fed up with it so i started to bitch like crazy gettin names and supervisor names and complaining than finally they switched to a new computer that actually worked...i hate them and will never buy a dell again

you know the blone joke about a girl going to the mechanic and asking for 710? Yea that one.

They're are about 100000+ more people that dumb when it comes to computers. Hate to say it, but i bet 3/4 of the members on this board are one of them.

First, i'd say to try and burn a full cd. If it can do that, then you're narrowing the problem down. Next, try using different software. If that doesn't work, open the computer up and check the cables and try again. Then try checking for updated firmware from the dell website. If all that doesn't work, then you probably need a new drive.

That is, unless you've been using the wrong media all along.

I admit I know more than average about computers, but the whole thing is you shouldn't have to. It should work the way it was designed without having to wipe the drive and start over, or buy all new hardware. You're buying a premade comp with everything installed and it should work out of the box!
