well, i'd have to agree with some of the things she says:
-anti-americanism in canada is not subtle; it's gone from
"silly americans" to
"GOD...those americans" to
"agggh" (for a surprising majority) OR a passive-aggressive
and, yes, canadians are unbelievably preoccupied with how well americans are aware of canadians. and canadians tend to believe they are morally superior. i can admit that i sometimes catch myself with that attitude.
BUT, i don't think canadians were so insensitive about sept. 11 like she says.

We are preponents of free speach but when it is used to express an opinion that is opposite to our own then we want to censor them. Ain't that ironic.
Also, what criteria do you use to consider a country to be worse than America? I'd really like to know. I'd rather live in a society like Switzerland's and Great Britain's than here, to be honest. They are better off in almost every way imaginable yet they are among the countries with people who don't like America. I don't know why people rationalize that if they don't like America it is because they're jealous or because they're worse off than we are. Open your eyes, take a world history course, and travel beyond our borders so you can get a good idea about the rest of the world and how the American point of view is just one of many and is no more important than any of the others.

silverdevil, im surprised that you are shocked by his statement. this country has such rampant hypocrisy that its hard to believe that we are taken seriously when we tell others they are not free. i mean look at this country historically. the pilgrims fled to this land because of religious persecution. but then they burnt witches in salem, MA...the same state where the pilgrims landed. then they revolted against brittain to gain freedom, but kept slaves. punishing murderers w/ the death penalty....i mean its been going on from the very beginning...its all PR, and PR is BS.
free speech my ass. you might be able to say and voice your opinion, but what good is it if whoever does is shunned and sometimes even exiled for it? its reduculous. this country pisses me off sometimes. but thats why i stay, maybe i can make a difference and change it for the better. who knows?

canada, france, sweden, great britian, switzerland, germany, australia. Um...hmm.......which ones are worse again??? I'm confussed.
All those places are great places to live, equal if not better than the US in all measurable ways. So you're opinion, although everyone is entitled to one, is garbage.

I don't like England's health care systems.
The funny thing is, 5 years ago these people had some correct points (economically). As for protection, they don't need it because they don't piss people off. Lately, our currency has been poison to anyone that holds in their reserves. We are more dependant on countries like China and other nations right now economically than in a long time. For example, China holds over a trillion US dollars, which historically has been used to stabalize their country. Now its screwing them over. If China, and other countries were to sell their US currency, we would be screwed. We need to make nice with these nations so we don't get screwed over.

TO say that only countries that have it worse than us hate us, is pretty stupid. It's just like Bush saying that we were attacked because terrorists "hate our freedom". LOL, yeah sure... David Cross does a great bit about that, he says that if terrorists attacked us because they "hate our freedom" wouldn't they have attacked a country with much more freedom then us? There's quite a few...
People need to realize that not every other country are third world communist regimes. There billions of people around the world living just as well as anyone here is.
