ok...I know lately there has been alot of excersize and diet posts, but I guess that this is the season for it. My question is what are some other dieats that you can lose weight on and they are still healthy for you?
I know about the Atkins diet, Weight watchers, the cabbage diet, and the high protien diet. I was on the high protien diet for 2 months but I got off of it because all the protien and high fat was bothering my stomach. Now my question for you is how do I eat right and take off the weight at the same time?
I am not fat, or heavy....but I would like to lose some inches...in my legs and in my stomach.
I joined a gym in late May with my girlfriend and we were going 3 to 4 times a week. We havent gone since July 4th. The way I am is that I will start excersizing and really be into it for a while, but then I will just stop being interested in it, or I will not have the time for it. I wish I could grow out of that.....

I only drink water(80 oz. a day). I have 2 ZONE bars for breakfast, a protein shake for dinner, then a well rounded meal for dinner. I lift weights 3 days a week, and do cardio 4 days a week. I used to be a size 38 and now I'm a 34.
I just recently started taking Hot Roxlast week to start getting cut and help me lose the weight at the same time. I also take a 2 a day multi vitamin.
I eat Nathans cheesesteak combos for lunch and dinner every school day of the week. Plus junkfood during classes. AND I STILL DON'T GAIN WEIGHT. I want my freshman 15 dammit! I've been in college for a year now and I've onyl gained 5 pounds.
Supposedly the low carb diet gets good results. My mom does that and she lost weight fast. She stays away from mostly bread and sugar. Try using slim fast, I've used that before and it definatly works. The only problem was that eventually I kept getting the urge to have actual food. You can only drink so many of those things before you miss food. Hope this helps.

Hydroxycut helps ... using that for a month and lost 15 so far, along with eating right and exercise daily ... I'm 6'2'' 200 lbs and looking to get really cut, not bulk up ... You said you don't really like to workout but if you want to lose inches quickly, you have to do somehitng, run, walk or even a game a basketball
Well today...I decided im going to start walking again. There is a park near my house that has a trail and 1 time around is 1.5 miles....Today I went around once...Last summer i would go there and I would walk the trail twice...Im going to try to do it a few times a week and just eat good...no junk food.
As for slim fast, I was on it already when I was younger...As soon as you start eating again you gain the weight right back...

I just started taking Hydroxycut. So I guess it works then huh?
CARDIO CARDIO CARDIO!!! Lots of Cardio. Go for like an hour at least 3 days a week. And cut out carbs. NO BREAD NO PASTA NO POTATOES NO SWEETS. Of course its easier said than done. Try to avoid the carbs and just remember that sugar is a bad carb so cut down on those thing and RUN RUN RUN!!
I'm in the same boat as you are civicdude. I'm not fat, but I want to cut a few inches off of my waist. Just like Toca said, Cardio. Has anyone tried any of those Metabolife(sp?) products? I'm thinking of giving them a try. I'm also going to start using some of the equipment around my house. I figured if I can not get out of the house to run, I'll use the exercise bike I have while I watch TV. The thing that sucks is that I do not eat junk food really at all. I try to watch what I eat, but thats not enough for me.
I agree with Toca, and like I said before Carbs are whats making us fat....or making us gain weight. I have cut out Sugar and also Caffiene from my diet. Caffiene slows down your metabolism.
I was on Weight Watchers for about a month but ended up going off of it because I always felt hungry...and I really didnt lose alot of weight...even though I was drinking 10 glasses of water a day and eating everything that I was supposed to.
One thing that has help me, is drinking a lot of water. I have pretty much cut out almost all of my pop intake. I said almost because there is that once in a while I will pick up a 20oz bottle. But now it has been a lot of water, Gatorade, which probably isnt good either, but when I work, I work consturction, it really helps more than water I think. I changed my eating habits a little bit, and I can feel my pants are looser, and people who havent seen my in a month, tell me that it looks like I lost weight.
Actually you are wrong...You could lower you cholesterol being on the Atkins diet....Try reading up on the background of the diet and you will learn a thing or two

Are you talking about ephedra meds? Cuz im on Hydroxycut and I dont feel all freaky lease:
Ok. The only way to lose weight is to have a caloric defecit in your body. That means you have to burn more calories than you consume.
For most people who want to lose a few pounds, this just means that they should stop eating crap. Also, the suggestion of cardio was made. Cardio is the best way to burn calories. Weight lifting is cool, but it doesn't really burn very many calories, so... go start running
No-carb diets are, generally speaking, a bad idea. Your body needs carbs for energy, as well as your brain needing carbs to function properly. Severely restricting (or eliminating all together) carbs will eventually place you in a state of ketosis. In ketosis, your body will burn fat for energy (since there's no carbs available), but it will also burn muscle for fuel unless you keep your protein intake very high. Keto diets can be effective, but, they will make you feel like crap after a very short time from the lack of carbs. Don't plan on being very active if you're doing this. Keto diets are popular among bodybuilders who are dieting for a contest. They keep their protein intake very high but eliminate carbs so their body is forced to burn fat and, as a result, their body fat percentage drops and then they show up on stage shredded and vascular (veins popping out). Anyway, in the weeks before the show, they usually feel very lethargic due to the lack of carbs in their system.
As for all that Xenadrine, Diet Fuel, Hydroxycut, etc. stuff, they're all basically the same. It's all a mixture of ephedra, caffiene, and asprin (and therefore referred to as an ECA stack). Anyway, some guy found out that if you mix these in proper proportion it will speed up the bodies metabolism for a little bit. They work, but don't rely on them. If you're going to take them, start with 1 a day, and work up to the recommended dosage. I've seen some people's bodies go nuts from just a small dose, and you wouldn't want anything bad to happen, would you? Also, if you stay on them for too long you'll get depressed when you come off.
ECA stacks work to supplement a diet and exercise program, but they won't do much by themselves.
Also, if you have any heart problems don't use anything with ehpedra (or ephedrine) in it. If you have a heart palpatation <sp?> while ephedra is in you, you die (I think that's it, it might be some other condition, though).
Don't use any of those pills that are "carb-blockers" or "fat-trappers" or any of that crap.
Contrary to popular media belief, carbs are not the enemy. Neither is fat. Weight gain or loss is based solely on the amount of calories you take in. One pound is equal to 3500 calories, whether it's fat, carbs, or protein. So it's not "oh, the carbs are making me fat." It's more like "oh, I'm getting too many calories for my level of activity."
Keep your calories in proportion. Eat a good balance of protein, carbs, and fats. None of them are bad, but going nuts with one or leaving one out is bad. And remember that when you're losing weight, protein is especially important to prevent you from losing muscle as well. The body is either anabolic (building up) or catabolic (breaking down). What this means is that you can either lose weight or gain weight at any particular time, but you cannot gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. So, if you're losing fat, you're probably going to lose at least a little muscle at the same time, but eating enough protein will prevent it from being bad (or even noticible).
Finally, don't confuse water weight with fat loss. You can lose 5 or 10lbs in a day from water, but as soon as you drink it's going to come back. This is why those "weekend Hollywood diets" are bullshit. You lose 10lbs in two days, but it's not fat, it's just water, so you're not really losing the right kind of weight, are you?
For this reason, I always tell my clients to go by the mirror (and perhaps the measuring tape) and not the scale. It's possible to gain weight but get smaller. Girls have a tendency not to believe this, (to them, gaining weight is always bad, no matter what the circumstances, even if their waist and hips are geting smaller at the same time) so I tell them to go by the mirror.
Besides, people care how you look; not how much you weigh.
I forgot what else I was going to add.
Good luck. Diet and cardio. Remember those two

pretty much whathe said is right there is a difference between being thin and being unhealthy. You can be overweight and be healthier than some skinny guy . No carb diets are usually bad because you NEED THAT STUFF. along with calories, its your daily enegy, cutting back on carbs can affect you, or worse yet, you can yo-yo diet pretty quickly.
Those protein diets are crap because all you can eat is meat meat. Like how bad is that for your heart!!! (not so much chicken or fish.) meat....
all you gotta do is keep a good amount of exercise 2-4 times a week for 30- an hour (hour is reccomended). dont eat ice cream... that is the worst crap you can put in your body. Plus, dont completely cut out sugar, just minimize until you eventually wear it out. No beer hahahahhahahha (ok maybe some) water. all that kinds of stuff.
that's not what i meant entirely what i meant i didnt mean NOT to cut it out.... i meant to lower you sugar intake by 1/4 or something. trust me you will crash if you cut sugar out all together at once.
hmmm now that i read it it does sound confusing... sorry
I hate running, but I don't mind weight lifting or anything to do with weights. I know weight lifting doesn't really burn fat, so one day I was jumping up and down and suddenly thought of the idea to jump up and down with a 25 lb weight on each hand. That sort of exercise actually helps, try to do lots of them with reps, it works cardio and your upper body muscles because you have to hold on to the weights tight, therefore exercising your shoulder and forearms. The bonus is that it WILL help you jump higher, it will. Good luck.

its not fair
sounds just like me, i eat 5 meals a day, a ton of junk food, lift weights, do pretty much everything, dont gain a damn pound, when i went in for my physical i was 6'2" 135 lbs. and 2.5% body fat, its ridiculous. good thing is, ive got low chol. and basically everything on my body is in good condition, so im not worried, i just wanna gain weight

I actually feel better when I cut sugar out of my diet. I feel 110% better that I dont have caffiene in my diet anymore either...I always had headaches and felt really tired from all the ceffiene I was taking in...I also felt that way from Sugar....After you cut out the sugar, you wont believe how good you will feel
Hydroxycut does work if you stick to a protein diet and work out .... The biggest thing I found it helps is cravings... I have none and I feel full after a couple of mouthfuls so I don't push more food in my face .... I'd say it works, but everyone is different
