Civic mods: Best bang for the buck?

A friend of mine recently bought a 2000 SI and wants to do a few mods to it but on somewhat of a budget. what is a good exhaust with a good balance of HP and $$. Would he need a full catback for better power or would a decent muffler do? what other simple boltons are good? names and brands would be appreciated. maybe some dyno links? Thanks guys

Re: Civic mods: Best bang for the buck?

There are a bunch of good exhaust systems out there just find one he likes. None of them are cheap and neither is modding a car so dont think modding the em1 is going to be cheap. And a muffler isnt going to do anything really, he will need the hole the midpipe to.

Noticable power adders will be Intake and Exhaust....I bought a 2.5" CAT back exhaust for my civic for $105 Brand new and a CAI for $55 brand new......IDC about brand names personally....its all the same. The air doesnt move any different if it says Apexi or Greddy or HKS on it. Same for intake.....in dont matter if it says K&N or AEM on the tube.

I would say get header to tip. The cat is the most restrictive component. So cat backs are really just for sound and hardly give performance gains.

If he wants a header which will give him the best gains its a race header not a 4-1 hi flow cat bull crap. I know for a fact probably the best header is going to be the kiddracing header.

Any aftermarket header will be 10 times better than that stock 'thing'.
