SUNROOF ON LX

I want a sunroof and i know someone on this site got one frm his honda dealer installed for like $350. I talked to my dealer and he said they could'nt cut into the roof because on a ex they are molded different or something andhe could'ntdo it on an lx. IS that true or just a bunch of BS? Has anyone had this done?

The dealer is feeding you a bunch of BS. THey can do it, they just dont want to. Other people with aftermarket sunroofs haven't had problems yet. It does only cost $350 to get one from a Honda dealer.

thats 350 BEFORE labor fees...honda dealerships/shops make a killin on those fees...so watch out..that 350 will soon become 600+

Not at my dealership, they won't do it. Plus you'll have to deal with leakage at some point.

My friend has an 01 LX Sedan and he got aftermarket moonroof. He got it at time of purchase thru dealer but he told me the roof was installed by some other company. So dunno how his warranty works.

But anywho, his roof is screwing up. I think it doesn't close/open on first try or something. Just some problem. He's got tilt and slide.

Anyway one time I sat in his car in the back seat and my head was covered in roof cloth because the roof lining was hanging like a bowl shape rather than glued to the roof. That's only because he got sliding moonroom i guess.

So precaution, don't get nonfactory moonroofs.

My friend has one of those cheapy pop up ones on his car, it came with it when he bought it, and it leaks. It sucks. I have issues with cutting such a big ass hole in the roof, thats why I got an EX. Plus the one's on the EX, slide right into the roof so it looks nice a clean.

I might be the person you are thinking of, mine was installed by the dealer for $350 and I have an LX. I was also told it is covered under my warranty since they installed it.

I wouldn't get it. I believe that the frames are slightly different in that the EX is stronger on top to make up for the space taken up by glass. If you get one put into an LX, you won't have the same rigidity, and that'll make for sloppier handling. This is all assuming Honda has two brain cells and reinforces things though.
