4-1 Race Headers

Just wanted to let everyone know I sourced out a second supplier for a 4-1 race header w/hi-flow cat. I can get anything HP Racing has as long as they have it in stock as I am a direct HP distributor but when they don't we have a second option. I will not advertise prices below HP Racings jobber price out of respect for them but I will try to work with people who want their products through shipping discounts or other ways.

Nope. HP Headers don't fit. You have to trim a motor mount to get them to fit.

Supposedly HP went back to the drawing board, but noone ever heard back from them.

Install them correctly = cut the motor mount? Is that what you mean?

Yep, requires the motor mount to be "shaved." LOL However, it is pretty much the mod to have for 7thgencivics.

I dunno. I thought about getting the HP headers + downpipe, but it would really make no sense on my EX. From everything I've heard, DC Sports is the way to go on the EX.

I don't know what you have heard but DC is definately not the way to go. Their i/h/e combo made a total of 5hp....LOL They make high-quality stuff but not necessarily high-performance stuff.

Just by looking at DC Sports headers compared to HPs, DC's looks puny! Don't waste your money on DC's headers as you will get NO gain what-so-ever. They suck. The HP 4 into 1 with cat converter is the one to get. Do not get the three piece headers with cat nor the 4-2-1 - get the 2 piece 4 into 1 because they offer the biggest HP gain any headers have to offer for our cars.

DON'T GET DC SPORTS HEADERS!

ok, let me give u guys a lil lesson...
HP RACE header is deffinitely a great mod. lots of new HP to play with. rated from HP on their dyno, they say that the results of their two differnt types of headers result in the following HP gains...

4-1 Race Header : 13 whp
4-2-1 shorty header : 5 whp

i put the Race Header on my LX, and have noticed SIGNIFICANT gains throughout the entire powerband, especially at 4k rpms...

yes, this RACE header requires a SMALL bit of the moter mount to be shaved. there is an additional mount that you can either shave to install the headers more easily, or you can completely unbolt your engine, rock it back, and then fit the header onto the engine.

and as far as you HOPEFUL buyers of this All New Designed 4-1 RACE HEADER... you're out of luck because there is no such thing. it has already been told by HP that they are not going to remanufacture the header. they are just now emphasizing the need to install the header correctly, by rocking back the engine. and yes, they are aware that you have to shave the motor mount, they say thats part of the RACE HEADER, and part of the fact that it is not STREET LEGAL...

Does anyone have any photos of the supposed "Shaving" I'd like to see if its worth it if the performance gains are that noticeable!

Can you elaborate on the "rock the engine back" part of your post. I am getting this header w/cat as soon as I can get one. Are you talking about unbolting that front mount and jacking up the engine a little bit or completely unbolting all of the mounts? Otherwise, if you just cut the part of the mount off on the side of the header, will the header just fit right in?

Oh, about the dc header, I have one. I put it on after the cai and exhaust and did notice a gain through the midrange. I had driven the car long enough with jus the cai and exhaust to see the difference. My wife also noticed. Anyhow, I know the hp will offer a bigger gain because the tubes are much bigger and is of the long tube, race design. Plus, the hi-flow cat should offer an awesome gain as well. I just know from experience that low rpm torque is going to take a major hit. However, I have a 5spd and can launch out of 1st and downshift to a lower gear at other times to get the rpms up.
