led rear bulbs illegal

as the title reads i got pulled over last night and found out these bulbs are illegal, as i had them installed as rear turn signal bulbs. it has to do with how far you can see the bulbs, and they're just not bright enough even though i had them in altezzas. just thought id let everyone know if they were thinking about getting these.

Is there any improvement if those LED's are installed in the stock tail lights? (because they are just covered, so you would just see a light, not the led)

Or do they do something special?? I've never bought them... too expensive.

no they dont reflect light off of the reflectors like regular bulbs so all you see in the led bulb itself, and because they draw less current than a regular bulb, your blinkers go twice as fast.

I think the cop was being stupid because my sister has LED in her lights and never had a issue they are actually more red then stock. Also as far as I know Jaguar has them in their taillights.

i got mine for 26 bucks on ebay. they are illegal, but most cops wont stop you unless they're being anal or if it's raining and they cant see them as well as regular bulbs, which is when i got stopped. then again it all depends on the wattage the bulbs puts out and how bright it is in your taillight.
