Hi all, I have a bit of a problem here. I dont know what size wheels to get. I'm going to be buying some SHU 4's in silver and I dont know if i shold get 17's or 18's. The 17's are alot cheaper, but will the 18's be worth the extra like 500 bucks? Will the 18's look that much better?? Thanks for the help.

Go with the 18's, our cars look so good with 18's. Everyone is going to tell you to go with 16's or
17's but once you go 18's you never go back. 17's look way too small to me now that I'm rocking
my 18's (Focal F5's in silver on 215/35 Toyo Proxes on my 02 ex eternal blue) and with a 1.5 to 2 inch drop it looks that much sweeter.
Mine was gonna be lowered this weekend with the help of Rob from Tornactive, but it got hit so now I
must wait. I promise you though, its more than worth the extra $$$$$. Take a look at Moocow's ride in the member's
ride section. I went 18's after seeing his ride. Peace
look at the streets in your area, are they crappy? You have a higher chance of bending or ruining a rim when they are larger. If you plan on lowering your ride go w/ 17's but if your gonna leave it stay w/ 18s. You'll get better performance from 16 and 17s though. 18s are mostly for show. Just keep this in mind when making your decision.
I have the same problem.... I can't decide between 17s and 18s for my car either. I agree, the 18s look better than the 17s, but the 19s look better than the 18s. If you look at it like that it doesn't help the situation. I saw you mentioned the Shu. Are you ordering the Wheel Max special? I'm leaning toward the 18s..... why not..... bigger is better
I just ordered some 18" Racing Harts. I like the bigger rims, and I'm just gonna pimp my 18s around, instead of trying to act like my car is fast.[IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG][IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG][IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] If you're going for speed, the biggest you should go is 17's, but if you don't care that much about speed, you want 18s.
Well, if you are an all show, look at me type of guy, go for the 18s because that's what they are for. You will probably notice a loss in acceleration and your ride quality is going to be seriously compromised. If your roads are bad, I would forget it. Like I said, if bling-bling is your thing, go for it.
Look at your roads first of all. Are they crappy? Go for 17's. If they're not, go for 18's. But beware that every time you need new tires it's going to be way more expensive than 17's.
Honestly in the show department I like 17's the best. I think they look perfect on our cars. Anything less than 17 doesn't show the $$$. 18's are OK, I just prefer the look of 17's... Then 19+ starts to look too whacked.

In you are into performace what is the best rim size? Bigger slows your acceleration but increases top speed right? So wouldn't 16 be the best for performance or 17. Sorry I'm a newbe
16's will have least unsprung weight and yet allow you access to good tires (usually 55 aspect ratio and lower). Unsprung weight will have an impact on how your car handles and rides. Going too low profile will make your car unecessarily harsh, add weight.
I got 16's right now on my ride and like them. However I am currently searching for 18's Looks much cleaner in my eyes but I am also go for show as well. Thought I could be speed racer before until reality took me on 3rd gear.

Why would a 16in wheel that is heavier than a 15in have the least unsprung weight. I have rota subzeros, on there way, that weigh just over 12lbs each. With the stock tire I should come in around 28-29lbs per wheel/tire. That's at least a 10lbs savings over stock.
An 18in wheel with tire will weigh at least 50lbs!!!!!!!!
My rims are going to be 17 in Enkei RS6's the guy at discount was going offering me some 18 ENKEI CDR9's with tires and stuff for like 1560 or around there but Nahh I wan the 17's with the 215/45 with more sidewall and don't want a lot of road noise and the roads are not that great here when it rains for like 9 mths out of the year and I need traction.
Mbow: I am talking about 16 being lighter (in general) compared to 17+, while still letting you access to good tires (55 aspect ratio and lower). With 15, the best you can do is 205/60/15 while keeping stock. Anything lower would be very far off from stock diameter.
