You need to do some more research...an LS transmission is completely different from a Type-R transmission. Not only in gearing, but the R comes with an LSD. A GSR has shorter gearing and should work, ITR is the best option for even shorter gearing & the LSD (faster accell, not so great on the highways), and an LS has long gears for mileage, not acceleration. It's a bit of a waste to put all that time into the motor and have an LS transmission. A GSR is a nice middle ground, IMO. I daily drive with one, and although 5th is a little short for my liking on the highway, I enjoy the acceleration.
To answer your question, I am pretty sure that they will fit together, (either trans).
One more thing though...in your profile pic you have an 01-03 Civic...you're not looking to put this motor in that car are you? Because if so you REALLY need to do some research.
The B18 LS motor w/ VTEC head is reffered to as an LSVTEC, and the B20 is generally referred to as a CRVTEC, which will make your searching easier.

The LS, GSR, and Type-R are all different motors and trannys.
There is not such thing as a GSR Type R Head, or an LS Type R Trans. You can install ITR internals in a GSR, but they are not the same. You should probably check out Honda-Tech for more info, or a forum with al ittle more support for older motors. You won't find too much info here on B-Series.
