help me with my exhaust...just got my first civic

ok so i just got a 1999 honda civic lx.its in really good shape.only has 19,000 miles on it.i want to start custimizing it.so the first thing i want to get is an axle back exhaust.but everytime i look for them i dont know which one to pick because i dont know the size of my tubing.does anyone know what it is on a stock civic lx ??? and if you know of a good axle back exhaust could you telll me, i have no idea which one would fit........

i dont really have a budget.i just want somthing that will look good and sound ok.but i mean nothing more than 300

hks makes good ones. just as long as you dont buy those 50 dollar ebay exhaust....then ur fine.

You may want to go to youtube and search your car for exhausts. That way you can find one you like the sound of and see if the price fits what you want to pay.

If I were you, I'd find what's the smallest size diameter in the tubing of the entire exhaust system. That can easily determine the best size tubing to buy. Example: I think the smallest diameter a 03 dx has is a 1.75, so unless I make that section of the exhaust bigger, then there is no point in getting a 2" pipe.

i think hks is the only one that makes axel back for the civic that i know of. hks is a good sounding one. the only thing that makes them different is the angle of the muffler as of being straight.

if i get a catback that says it has 2.25 inch pipes.would that fit on the stock cat and header

A catback manufactured for your civic would fit. It would bolt right up to the stock cat. You can also look in the for sale section of this website and find some good deals. I got a almost brand new catback system from somone on here for 260 bones. Why do you want an axleback vs catback? jw

i just got the exact civic... with 110xxx. my uncle had installed new pipning 2 3/4" from headers to ehaust and a new 3" muffler. not sure of the brand but it gives a nice deep hum. When you hit the gas it gives a smooth sounding growl I would suggest getting bigger piping but thats just me.

i cant remember it all but with it being a friend we got a discount and i believe it ended up to be a tad under 300. keep in mind though this wasnt all name brand stuff. I will ask my uncle for all the details when i see him again and i will try to tell you the specifics.
