Help

I have a 2000 honda civic ex with a D16Y8 engine I am going to bore it and I am looking for a new crank because I don't Have one but Its hard to find one for a 1.6 D16 What other cranks are compatible and which one would be the best overall for power and quality. The majority of d16 cranks are interchangable. I think the only difference is that some of the older ones had a smaller snout on the timing gear end but dont hold me to it. Performance wise, they are all the same stroke and I think close to the same weight. It shouldnt be too hard to find a y8 crank though. Worse comes to worse, buy a longblock from a junkyard for a few hundred bucks. Almost all of the later Honda cranks are forged and nitrided so the chances of you buying an engine with a bad crank are quite slim. I have seen a few Honda cranks after spun bearings with the crank riding on the rod and the crank not having a mark on it. They are pretty much the best OEM cranks you'll ever find, buy with confidence. As long as a rod isnt sticking out of a block, more than likely the crank is mint.
