Rep Power: 263 FYI: Fake or Real?? (Bride Racing Seats.)
Modified Magazine did a three part article on how to determine weather or not a part from Ebay or elsewhere was a genuine part. This article was mostly about engine performance modifications. I've finally collected some information from a Mr. Shino Fujisawa from Lot-usa.com (Authorized distributor in USA for Bride 'tees-usa.com' ) about how to recognize weather or not a bride seat is a knock off or a real part. This is what he wrote:
Thank you for your e-mail.
The seats that you are planning to buy, are they a recliner type or a full bucket?
If it is a recliner type, try taking out the center cushion. There is a velcro strap at the button so once you unzip them, towards the center you will see
a hook, and there should be another hook at the very top. Now, if you see
strings that are tied, it is a fake. Genuine seats do not use strings.
If the fabric is suede or buckskin, it is a counterfeit. We only use buckskin for EURO II.
Please look at the dials on the side(please view both sides) If there is three circles that re leveled out, this will be a counterfeit as well.
The genuine should be flat.
For every genuine seats, there should be a white tag on the seats with our Bucket Monster logo and Japanese writings on the back. If it is only one side
written on the tag, this will be counterfeit also.
Also, our seat fabric will not be wrinkled easily.
For full bucket, please verify the tag on the side. We do not have many
details about the counterfeit full-bucket seats.
If you can send me a photo, we will take a view of the seat.
Please do not buy our seats from e-bay. As far as I have seen, it is all counterfeit.
There is a lot of our BRIX II out in e-bay, stating it is manufactured in CANADA. All of our seat is manufactured in Japan.
Also if you browse e-bay, you will see BRIDE safety harness, BRIDE steering wheel,
BRIDE tach-meter, BRIDE shift boots, BRIDE t-shirts, above items are all fake.
We never made them before, and we will never manufacture them either.
BRIDE t-shirts, genuine one is really simple. It has a Bucket Monster in the back and has the BRIDE logo in the front. Colors will be black, navy, grey, and white.
Thank you.
With Best Regards,
Shino J Fujisawa
All of this was very informative, which I appreciate he responded with.
Additionally, a couple hours after I got his E-mail, I also got an e-bay message from the seller of two "Bride" seats, which of course the message was simply three words "These are replicas."
If you have a doubt, ask questions. The seller isn't going to tell you their real when their not.
With all that being said, I think it's pretty safe to say that you get what you pay for when it comes to quality. As well as if it sounds too good to be true, then once again, it probably is!
If you found any of this information helpful, lemme know!
