how does short shifter work?

how does short shifter work?

i was lookign at thses. i like the looka nd idea. but when i have my centre console out it seems my shifter is welded etc.

how do these dapators work? and if i replace teh whole thing. what kinda benefits. i didnt find much info on this.. i have a 04 coupe 5speed dx

for that matter. i have thought about jsut shopping the damn stick and mounting a new handle

any info?

It depends on the short shifter used.

Revo has a unit that replaces the whole shifter unit. It reduces the motion needed to move the shift cable to the trans. Thus resulting if faster shifts for racing.

Then there is the adapter short shifters
these do the same thing.

Here i the revo shifter. It just lengthens the part where the tran cables is attached

ohh ok.. so does it make the shift thingy any lower.. i saw a car with a little nub sticking out.. looked pretty kewl. wodnered how he got that. i guess if i bought the repalcement i could jsut cut it shorter?

(had tow ord the above carefully with out getting giggles)

Some people cut the shifter lenght, which is really for appearence only.

But a short shifter just reduces the shifting lenght between gears.

With the revo, the shift lever is about 1-1.5" shorter.

so it reduces how far left/right and up/down i have to move the shifter.. hmm.

wut they run? id otn think ive seen these on sale before. and which is recmend the ad on or the replacement?

OH ok i see... lol thanks...

i was wondering... cuz i dont drive a 7th gen, mine's a 6th... i just cant find a 6th gen forum i like, and you guys are cool, and i knew that was a short shifter for my car, so i was like wtf is this talkin about?

The Revo SS is basically the stock shifter with a couple inches cut off the top of the post. I love my Revo but would have preferred to save the $90 and cut and rethread the stock shifter. Also, with the Revo, get Grey's kit (or just replace the cotter pins) or your leather boot may get ripped.

i would go with the viscous tech adapters, the length of the stick doesnt change but, the foward and side throws are shortened significantly.
