Re: Rate Your Exhaust

Skunk2 racing w/aem cai....Had both installed at the same time and it sounds great and the power increase was very noticeable in all gears. So....

Power 4 (midrange torque)
Loudness 3, sounds like a muscle car coming down the road +1
Fit 5 perfect fit super fast install

Re: Rate Your Exhaust

Tanabe Hyper Medallion Universal Can with Holley Airmass cat-back piping.

Fit/Finish- 3.5 Has to weld hangers on it to hang it up but the tip looks nice coming out the bottom and the can is polished with Tanabe etched on the tip and bottom.

Power- 4 (when i had a SOHC) I had the exhaust on my single cam with 2" piping before i did my swap and you could tell a difference and when vtec kicked in it would pull similar to a DOHC, better low end response and better throttle response in the 2-4k rpm range I have a B20 now and have no baseline to compare on this engine.

Loudness: 2.5 when used on smaller piping with cat still on it and factory resonator. 5 (louder and buzzier than hell) when used with 2.5 pipe (inlet size on the hyper medallion is 2.5") with no cat or cat bypass and resonator that came with the Holley. I hate the loudness it drones inside the car at all ranges, it wakes the neighbors when i leave at night and people can tell when im coming home four houses away.

Piping is S/S (unpolished) Muffler can is S/S.

this was on the single cam

Re: Rate Your Exhaust

Isn't loudness a relative response? I mean some mexicans round my way think a muffler-less 91 DX that sounds like raging diahrrea with 3" piping sounds good. Also some people round here think a muffler that drones inside the cabin is smooth and quiet.

Re: Rate Your Exhaust

*UPDATE* 12/26/08

Magnaflow ss 2.5" C/C Universal Muffler

Fit- 1 i guess since i had to weld and make new hangers...

Power- 3.5 Noticable mid range and top

Noise- Honestly a 3.5 since it is a full catless 2.5" system. Im sure it would be a 2 if i had a 2.25" pipe.

I welded on 3" ss tip to the 2.5" ss body for a clean stock look. I painted the body flat black and the tip is polished looks like an ITR muffler.

Re: Rate Your Exhaust

RS*R EXMAG Exhaust (RSR-12-H130, 60mm piping, 80mm/100mm tip inside/outside, stainless steel ceramic coated) for my 02 civic

Fit: 4.8 pretty close to stock. maybe a little looser than i really want

Power: 2 didn't notice power gains. didn't expect any, really, with just a catback system

Loudness: 2 Seriously loved the exhaust note. Very subtle looking and sounding. This honda technician i knew revved the piss outta my car with the exhaust on, trying to test out how it maintains near redline. He loved it. Guess b/c it preserves the note throughout, sounds really sick ~ 4.5k. downshifting is a damn good feeling

Actually, I've put it up for sale HERE (putting the civic back to stock to sell later also).
