5w 20w Motor Oil

I was just wondering what motor oil I should use. The specs say 5w-20W. Does anyone use 5w-30w Mobil 1? I haven't found 5w-20w in stores. To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

welcome to the boards, search around first next time, there are many threads about what oil to use. You can use pretty much anything. I use mobil 1 10W-30. As for the 5w-20, you can use 0w-20, it is the replacement for 5w-20. And yes alot of people use mobil 1 5w-30.

Wal-Mart sells pennzoil 5w20 (dino) cheap and very reliable for daily driving...good additive package since 5w20 is thinner than 5w30 at the beginning...but at the end of the interval period 5w30 are often more degraded than 5w20 because of the additives of the 20 weight...if you want synthetic, mobil 1 5w30 is good since it's a thin 5w30 or castrol syntec 0w30(german made) both are popular for the week-end racers...

0W-20 Mobil One since that is what they suggest for Honda 5W-20 oil.

Redline 5W-20 is used. M1 0W-20 is also highly recommended.

^ Well built oil, haha!

I use whatever I feel like using. I do that mainly because I don't really know what is ideal for my sometimes pushed Civic. Therefore, I think I will follow everyone else's lead and start using Mobil 1 0W-20.

Your supposed to use synthetic in our cars. I dont do my oil changes, I have a trustworthy shop for little things. But most shops wont ever tell you to use synthetic, but if you dont always use it, your gonna have some probs down the line from the material our engine is made out of. Use the specs from the car, and synthetic, and you will be good. It will drive much better, and you dont need another change for up to 7500 miles
