So, calm yourself.
how about you keep those to yourself for now, till we get our spacer and try out the pulley first. If the pulley system doesn't work, than you can flame all you want.

Again, everything you mention we have heard a million times. Alot of ppls did get the pulley and one member already put it on with no problem. So i woulden't say we're getting fu*k over yet.

The guy who started this thread had to get the pulley taken off because it was making weird noises I believe and his sensor got damaged. Correct me if I'm wrong

hey!!! okay i got my dual-groove pulley on monday and had it installed today...after about 7 hours of having it in the shop (yeah i was really surprised it took that long)...they finally finished!! Unfortunately i wasn't able to get the measurements of the new belts needed...i will try to go back there tomorrow and find out for my fellow 7thgeners...okay now the air conditioner losing power issue is almost non-existent...the a/c works about the same as before...i did feel that the power steering got a little weaker...but its not too noticeable...and finally the gains...according the my "butt dyno" my car seems to pull alot more....but you all know how accurate those dynoes are...so just to see if any gains were actually made or if it was just me i'll be taking my car to the track next saturday!!! From what i've felt so far...this pulley seems to be living up to its expectations!! great work dh-racing!!!
Less than 200 bux for a couple HP. I think is a better deal than a intake. PPls keep saying DH sucks this DH sucks that, but no one really install the pulley yet. If this pulley fails to meet expectation, than i think we shoulden't let DH live on this site. Fair?

someone keep trying to call him and ask for the spacer. He did mention they were sent out on March 22. Post 36

again, Josh did mention the spacer is not a must

The pulley CAN NOT be installed without the spacer. i know this for a fact. I tried to install my pulley myself. when you put the bolt through the pulley and go to tighten it up, it pulls the pulley in until it hits the sensor. we tried just tightening it enough to where it wouldnt hit the sensor but that barely had any torque on the bolt. my original plan was to space it out with some washers from a hardware store. the same day i came on here and saw that josh was gonna be making spacers. so i didnt try. maybe i'll try that out this weekend.

Wow. You guys don't stress out too much about this. It's gonna be alright. Worst case is you're out $180 or less. One way or another this will get worked out and DH will either stay or go. I guess that's what we get for jumping on the bandwagon.

look, im very frustated and to hear ppl say the spacer is not a must.......

get it through your heads the freakin thing will NOT go on without alot of modification!!!! IE cutting the damn timing case...

(the dumbass on the phone said i would need to cut it anway, im like wtf what woudl you need to cut it for?? then CLICK he hangs up)

the only reason i might cut mine is cause my car is all apart and i dont want to have to just throw on the old rvm pulley back on

Just put your old pulley back on, or better yet the stock pulley. A few hp isn't worth damaging your car.

Why didn't we listen to these guys in the first place? I know I should have, but at least I've found out the hard way.

Quote:
Well I just tried to hav my mechanic to put my pulley on yesterday but he wouldnt do it. He said it was a drag pulley and that it is not appropriate for normal everyday driving. He said it would weaken the alternator and most likely due damage to the engine. Also he said there was no keyway which there shouldve been.

My mechanic has alot of experience with cars, right now he has 6 various racecars in his shop. I trust him and im going to listen to him and not hav the pulley installed. Im going to talk to josh about sending my pulley back and getting my money back.
Quote:
If properly designed, a pulley with a keyway can operate with NO vibration. If the key inserted in the keyway is the right size and mass, then it will offset the keyway itself. Bottom line is, on our engines the vibration caused by a keway'd pulley would be negligible.

Keyways serve two purposes;

1) To prevent slippage
2) The key is designed to shear under high stress, before the pulley does (this is the main purpose). So, if the pulley is under exterme stress, the key in effect protects the pulley by preventing it from cracking all over.

A no Keyway pulley CAN in fact vibrate. It can vibrate a lot. In fact, every pulley, no matter how well balanced will vibrate to some degree. There is no such thing as perfect balancing. I'm sure DH Racing's pulley is extremely well balanced, though.
