Question Optima batteries... red top vs yellow top???

Hi, I need help in deciding what battery to get. I don't run any stereo equipment, but I just want something that will start better in the winter and isn't, well, stock. I don't know what the difference is between the red top and yellow top Optima batteries. Where I live it gets as cold as -25 celcius in the winter and as hot as 30 degrees celcius in the summer, so I would like something with a little more starting power I suppose for the cold winter. I'm not sure what the red top specializes in vs the yellow top or vice versa so can someone please explain to me what they both do different? Thanks.

I should also add that I want the battery to fit in the stock location without any modification.

the yellowtop was designed to be a high capacity deep cycle battery. and when you look at the reserve charge rating, the yellowtop will last 10 minutes longer than the red, only. So you get the battery designed for starting yrou vehicle, with nearly the same charge as the yellow.

thats why i reccommend red over yellow.
Search and you will learn

It will fit but you will need to get an aftermarket battery tie down for the optimas. The regular one won't work.

I have a optimia red top and I used the stock battery tie down. All you have to do is bind the tap up , that use to be for the stock honda battery. Then remove the stock battery box. I love mine, the best and cheapest place to buy them is at costco. =)

Cool, thanks guys. So IF I wanted to use an aftermarket tie down, which one should I get? Or does it not matter?

The battery is bigger in size just a little, and it does weigh alittle bit more than the stock battery. But it is alot better battery than the $70.45 battery your going to buy from honda.

Optima now makes a small battery that will fit in the stock location
so that you dont have to put in a full size battery and mover everything around . they are expensive thought 135 or so at pep boys
and kragen but if i was you i would get the red top
