Squirrels Ate Wiring Harness

Squirrels made a nest in my engine bay and nibbled away at the Engine Wiring Harness (part number: 32200-TR3-C10) on my 2012 Honda Civic LX 4-dr Auto. The car runs fine but the wire from the A/C compressor to the main harness is damaged and with summer approaching, I will need air conditioning. Honda dealers in Ontario (where the car is made BTW) are asking C$507.00 for the part and 4-5 hours of labour @ C$100/hour. Checked with US dealers in Michigan and the same part is US$380.00 - labour cost is about the same. Any solutions to getting this done more economically? Has anyone experienced this kind of situation previously? Please share ideas your thoughts & experiences. Thanks.

The car was parked in an open public garage and not driven for a couple of days, and the nights in South-West Ontario in the past couple of weeks have been quite cold.

What's your insurance deductible?

Being a 2012, it may be difficult, but you can try an online salvage yard search. If that doesn't work, I'd try splicing/repairing the wires yourself, as a temp fix. Match the colors, connect. If you're not comfortable with doing it yourself, try going to a stereo shop and ask then to splice a few wires. Their hourly rate should be better.

If it is just a couple of wires it may be an easy cheap fix. I would solder, heat shrink and use some 3M #88 electrical tape it. Should be fine afterwards.
